Now releasing The Secret World Chronicle, Book Four: World Divided
The fourth book of this superhero tale is here!
The stories of the metahuman struggle against the Thulian menace continue in the fourth installment of The Secret World Chronicle, World Divided. Echo and CCCP face the reality that is Blacksnake as lines are drawn and sides are chosen. Some heroes fall while others emerge from the ashes, and an opportunist arrives to take advantage of grief and mayhem in the wake of a devastating loss. Famed fantasy and sci-fi author Mercedes Lackey and returning authors Dennis Lee and Cody Martin are joined by artist and fantasy author Larry Dixon and voice talent/author Veronica Giguere as they continue this podcast in the braided novel tradition. Cover art done by Adam Mancilla.

Brain in a box… hmm anyone else think that’s like a McD’s meal for zombies?;0 I do love the SWC please listen to it and the first sentence is sort of a tease.

Ya’ want it to end because you want to know what happens, but at the same time you never want it to end! This has been an A+ series since the first installment. It seems like Veronica’s “narrator” voice has changed in this one??? Not in a bad way, but wondered if it was intentional?

I’m wondering what the seraphim is doing….
She had to knoiw what would happen since she can see the future…
And what is Verdegris going to do….
World Divided is wonderful. Waiting anxiously for the next section.

While I love this series, and think it’s one of the best-produced I’ve yet read, I have to admit I’m getting a little tired of being strung along. I haven’t finished the last few chapters yet, but I can only assume that, like all the others, this one just sort of stops and leaves us hanging until the next one.
If the author came out and said “There’ll be 7 books”, at least we could listen and pace the story a little better. As it is, it’s like she’s really got no plan, and just keeps throwing together a handful of smaller stories inside a larger arc that only lasts about 20 chapters before calling it done and then starting a new book.
Ms. Lackey seems to be applying some old-fashioned “Wheel of Time” ideas to her audiobooks, where she can just crank out the same thing forever, but I think people will get bored. Compare her work to some of the authors who started the podiobooks movement, like Scott Sigler and JC Hutchins. Each knows how to write a complete story that still succeeds in making you wait anxiously for the next thing they’ll write.

Now we have “Roll the Bones” in both books 3 & 4.
It does, however, fit in in book 4 much better.
Then is there a final episode to book 3 or does it end with “Thunder in Heaven” Part 3?
March 17th, 2011 at 7:08 pm
Let me see how I can help with some of these questions and comments. Dwight, this does mean that ‘Thunder in Heaven, Part 3′ is the end of World Well Lost, and that ‘Roll the Bones’ is the end of World Divided.
Duane, there are going to be five ‘print’ books in this series, as we have been graciously picked up by Baen in no small part to the listenership we’ve been able to prove via Podiobooks. There is an outline to the story and there is an end; Mercedes, Dennis, Cody, and I have been at work on the next group of stories. When this project began, we were new to podcasting and the idea of constant release. I’ve done my best to move to fast releases of ‘seasons’ of the story that make sense while not starving listeners for too long, but we are working with a very large story with an enormous cast. Now that we’re so far into the storytelling, we’re doing the best we can in the writing, recording, and release process.
I really do appreciate the comments and feedback regarding the writing and production of the podcast. Thank you.

Thanks for the explanation of the endings of books 3 & 4, that helps a lot. Will there be another podcast that explains who and what the Thulian’s are, and what will Verdegris do next? How long will it be before the next story begin.
The series is great and I can’t wait for the next one to begin.
Thank you for you and your crews hard work.

A body switch plot point is a little overdone but Wow, you did it so well! It is always a surprise how great writing and great reading can make everything seem new. Excellent job!

Love the series. Only real complaint I have with it is the amount of time its been since you had handsome devil as the narrator. Kinda liked his humor and outlook.

Please could someone let me know when more podcast episodes will be released. Has the whole project been dropped or am I just imagining that it has been a real long time since we heard anything.
Thank you in advance

The book is complete, Coops. Marked as such on the book’s page. If you’ve listened to the 23rd episode, you’ve heard it all!

Great podcast! Has given me many hours of escapist listening whilst battling thru city traffic.
It’s a long-running series, (in 4 parts so far) with multiple intertwining story lines, set in a world where there’s superheroes a-plenty, some good, some evil, all with flaws & foibles as interesting as their abilities. An initial, slightly rambling, storyline has tightened up over the length of the series and focused on intensifying the dramatic situations of several core characters and building towards a cliffhanger ending.
Good, consistent audio quality and excellent voice acting increase the pleasure of listening to this series.
