New completed audiobook: Trapping A Duchess by Michele Bekemeyer
Like your history spiced up with a little romance? Michele Bekemeyer has just the ticket; Trapping a Duchess.
Set in the early 19th Century England, Trapping A Duchess tells the story of formerly affianced couple, whose marriage-to-be ended when Sophie left Andrew humiliated at the altar. The two would be more than pleased to never have to see one another again until they come face to face while rivaling for the affections of two members of the same family.
Tempers – and desires – flare as the pair does their best to outwit one another. But fate has other plans, including a seduction that changes everything.
Michele has loaded all 20 episodes to our system. If you want them one at a time, take one of our free custom feeds. Or if you want to pound them all — you’ll need to make some tweaks to your podcatcher — the default feed may work better. Either way, it’s a free audiobook!

If you haven’t listened to this podiobook yet, you are very much missing out. Imagine if Jane Austin left all the good bits in Pride & Prejudice or Sense & Sensibility, and you’ll have Trapping a Duchess in a nutshell. Romnov’s aren’t normally my entertainment of choice, but the character development and overall writing in this one made me reconsider my opinions on the genre. Add in Michele’s sultry voice and you’ve got yourself a wonderful listening experience. I am seriously looking forward to novel 2.0!

Michele Bekemeyer’s Trapping a Duchess is the first Romance novel I have ever read, or listened to from any sub category within the genre. I have never been interested in these kinds of books, but based on recomendations from other listeners, I decided to give it a try.
I was surprised at how easily it was to get sucked in to the story, setting and character’s lives and every chapter left me wanting more.
The audio quality is superb with a crisp clean sound that is easy to listen to. Michele’s narration is also very good. Her performance for both male and female voices, including and flawless british accents make listening to Trapping a Duchess an absolute joy.
Good story. Good writing. Good narration. Topped off with just a hint of the naughty, Trapping a Duchess is definitely worth your listening time, especially if you’ve never given the Historical Romance genre a try!

I enjoyed this book so much. It kept me in thralled for hours. What would Sophi do next, would Andrew ever truley win her heart. Im a romance junkie, and I have to say this truley was, a very lovely story. Her determination not to marry him yet being drawn to him at the same time. I love the plot line of her leaving him at the alter only to marry him in the end.
The sound and voices were top notch I would recomend this book to anyone especially if you like romance.

Really not a fan of romance novels, and I still have nightmares about Jane Austin from high school. This book was following in the same vein for quite a few chapters. The language is a bit hard to wrap your head around but the narration is superb and towards the end of the novel things get quite spicy and definitely worth listening to.

I have to say that I have read hundreds of Romance novels over the last 10 years. But have never had the pleasure of LISTENING to one. It was an immense pleasure because it was so well written and voiced that I would happily listen in future to anything else by this author. Well done and congratulations!

I always enjoy stories where you get to really know the characters–where there is heft and texture to them and you see all sides. That’s so the case with Trapping a Duchess. Andrew and Sophie are three-dimensional and real. When you listen to Michele Bekemeyer tell their story, you forget that it’s a story and believe. She puts you right in their heads and you feel a part of their situations. I loved the accents and the quiet strength of her reading, and the fact that she transported me to another time and place through her words.
These aren’t life and death issues that are portrayed with the fate of the world literally at risk like you find in so many stories, but I found that refreshing. Besides, to the characters it’s incredibly important to fight the conventions in which they are “trapped” and to try to figure out a way to make their lives their own. As you listen to Trapping a Duchess you become invested with Sophie and Andrew and want everything to work out for them, even though that seems unlikely.
Trapping a Duchess is a story to get lost in, and that’s exactly what I want from fiction.
Oh, one more thing. The sex scenes…whew! Like the rest of the story they are vividly described and extremely well-done, but I was very glad I was listening via ear buds!
Thanks, Michele. I’m really looking forward to your next podiobook!

This was the first romance story I have heard/read and I must say it has left a very high bench mark! Though (and this is the pedantic part of me emerging) there were a few period inconsistencies, mostly just Americanisms that appeared (for example there would never have been any cookies in england-closest thing would be biscuits)

Thank you all for your feedback! It is much appreciated! And Jess, you are *absolutely* right about the cookies/biscuits thing. It’s one of those things I didn’t catch until all of the recordings were complete. I’ve corrected it in the written version and promise there will be no cookies in the second novel.

This is a wonderful book! It was a fun listen and is rich with period details and background. I hope to see more from this author.

Truly splendid! The accents and narrations were perfect for each character and I found that even though there was really only a main plot (not any sides really) and two focused characters, it was still enjoyable. And for romance that is simply right. However, I would LOVE to see you develop a complicated plot with multiple round characters who really change, that would be a serious treat.
The metaphors and descriptions in general are just completely… Intoxicating. Your writing style and skill is simply amazing. Please give us MOOOREE!
Oh and of course I have to mention the erotic scenes. I would say that if someone’s never seen porn or had sex, that would be a very disturbing first time experience just for it’s explicit nature. However, to someone who is used to it to an extent, it was simply intoxicatedly beautiful in it’s writing. The author made seduction of the naughtiest kind beautiful and believable. During the seduction phase, it truly NEVER got old and repetitive and just turn into a gigantic erotica books like what some do. The author captured the beauty of plot, steam, and characters all in one jumble of literary ecstasy.

Absolutely the best JA-like audio romance I have ever heard and better than most in the bookstore. Andrew’s heartbreak and then seduction will have you wanting to crawl into his bed. By the end of the book, you’ll be saying… “Darcy who? I want me some Andrew!” Awesome story and storytelling. Michele’s voice is soothing and her accents are well done. Great job! I can’t wait for the next.

Wow, Brilliantly sultry, well written, Great Pace, Good detail and all set in the Mr Darcy Jane Ayre Era – Fabulous – Thoroughly enjoyed – couldnt put it down and I hate chick lit and shallow romance novels, ….this is different its filled with enough detail to keep you interested but the pace is good and it deals with thoughts and emotions of consequence , feels quite factual even though of course its not….Great Stuff, when’s No. 2?

I LOVE regency romance! This was one of the BEST books ever – definitely one that I will listen to again, highly recommend and remember very fondly. I devoured it in 2 days, each episode was JUST so GOOD – and Bekemeyer did an excellent narration. I’m happy to hear there’s another book on the way – I’m really looking forward to it.

I enjoyed this book. The Regency details are engrossing. The characters are captivating. The sex is HOT. The plot is pretty standard par for a romance.

Hi,
Just had to drop a line and tell you how much I enjoyed your book. I have been down at MGH with my mom while she is recovering from an operation, so needed to take my mind off things and you swept me away! It was a great story, but I think I most enjoyed the begining. The way you made me feel sorry for Andrew. These types of books tend to have you siding with the poor wronged female but your take was interesting since although she stands up for herself and refuses the arranged marrige, it turns out she made a big mistake, and it’s fun to see her finally realize that and fix it.
