Just finished this novella. The audio reading is performed well and the music in the background is a nice touch.
The writing is pretty good, though a little short on details. We are introduced to several characters throughout the story, but most of those characters don’t do anything.
For instance the sheriff could be a great character but he’s not very dynamic and we aren’t given much reason to become emotional about him.

I really liked the story, very unexpected and I love the ending. Most of all I love the two sides told and the history. Great Story George!!

Wow, so I just finished the first seven episodes and I’ve never heard such offensive material in an audio book before. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not easily offended by any means and I did listen to 7 episodes but the author’s take on immigration, gay people and African Americans is just so wrong and ignorant. First I thought it was just the characters and the story but the more I heard I began to realize that this is the author’s views. The small town with the backwoods sheriff made me never want to visit the southern USA. No wonder the world thinks of the south as a bunch of racist rednecks! “What’s the definition of a southern virgin?……” Come one.
It’s also such a blatant stereotype so as to be not funny.
I really hated the music in the background and the slow pace of the book. Story plots were dis-jointed and not explained well. Some characters had little point. I also found the dialogue unbelievable and the writing juvenile.
I’ve already deleted the rest of the episodes from my iPod.
