The story continues: The HeavenField – Book Two by I G Hulme
The best audiobooks are those that play a movie in your mind. I G Hulme delivers on that promise. Today we’re beginning the release of The HeavenField – Book Two. You’ll want to start with the first book, as this picks up right in the middle of the action:
The Second installment of The HeavenField novel – a fast-paced science-fiction thriller set within a British experimental Scientific Research Facility.
“…The world has changed forever; we have opened the door to something which we don’t understand, and that door cannot be closed. I only hope we can change with the world.” The man had a fevered stare, and Thomas found himself mesmerised by his words, obscure as they were.
The man suddenly stiffened, as if hearing a distant noise, then leaned close to Thomas once more.
“They’re coming,” he whispered. When Grace Palmer and her team of research scientists discover a way into a mysterious world they name the HeavenField, they trigger a devastating chain of events. Bizarre, unexplained murders and attacks on the Project leave scientists trapped in the Field with no way to return. As their air supplies run low and their equipment begins to fail, their nightmares begin to play out before them.
Now, as Grace Palmer tries to pick up the pieces of the shattered HeavenField Project, Alex finds himself travelling the wastes of the Field in an attempt to flee the mysterious Speers and Gutteridge.
Soon though, he is forced to make a decision which may lead him back to Maunsworth House, and to ultimately kill again…
We’re dropping the first two episodes. Ian releases on a bi-weekly schedule, but that may change. Choose between a custom feed — my choice — or the default feed. And hang on.

Sweet. Really enjoyed the first installment. Ian has set the bar high for all of us pod-novelists.

I’ve been looking forward to this! I loved the first part. One suggestion that I have (maybe a little late to implement now?) would be a short recap of the previous part before jumping into the new plot? I had to go back and relisten to the final episode of part one just to get my bearings.

Thanks for your comments!
You’re right about the recap of the story Brett, someone else has also inquired about this. Sorry – it is on my to-do list, honest!

This stellar sequel to IG’s brilliant first volume is welcome indeed. His imagination and completely innovative writing make this haunting tale as compelling as any scifi/fantasy classic, the ranks of which HeavenField will soon be acknowledged to have join. As if that were not enough, his empathic narration style and vivid art work make this a must read. In IG’s early writings it is clear he is earmarked for great success and I count myself lucky to be along from the start as a fan. IG, make certain you construct a large band wagon, you’ll need it soon!

The picture is becoming much clearer now that the second book has been completed. The production quality is still some of the best on Podiobooks and the writing is tight and fast paced.
I hope the third book comes out soon.

I LOVED the first book and I am almost done with this one, so far it is great! Funny story … I was walking to work today and listening during a really creepy part (uh like most of the story) and a guy in a house I had just past was in his garage doing so work and shot off his nail gun and it made a loud POP! I shot off a girlish scream and in turn he screamed. I think he thought he shot me (and I thought demons were going to rip my soul out of me!)

WOW.
This is outstanding. I am thoroughly enjoying this and can’t wait for books III and IV.
The sound quality, editing and effects are very impressive. Good story. I’m hooked.

If you do not want to have to actually think or otherwise use your brain than do not listen to this book, on the other hand if you are not adverse to using your mind than you should enjoy this book very much!

The mood is creepy. The characters feel like complete characters. Standing Point is cool. The Heavenfield is fascinating. The plotting is slow, and the usage of -ly adverbs is painful. Full review on my webpage.

Does this book have an ending, or is it just another “episode” like the first part?
