Theme and Variations

Michelle M. Welch today begins a new short story collection; Theme and Variations:

A podcast anthology of speculative fiction with music as a theme. Science fiction, fantasy, and slipstream tales include stories of a future world where music has been lost, office workers whose embedded soundtracks direct their lives, the Martian superstar who doesn’t want to play anymore, singers who can compel men to kill with the sound of their voices, and more.

The eight episodes present short stories by Keyan Bowes, Ernest Hogan, Elaine Isaak, Lejon A. Johnson, Jack Mangan, Rick Novy, Lon Prater, Caroline Rhodes, and Michelle M. Welch, and some of the episodes feature performances or original music by the authors.

The first five stories are in the default feed with more to come. And as always, you can opt to take a custom feed and control how often additional episodes are sent to you.

Thanks for listening! The next episode will be up soon; however, since Podiobooks guidelines required me to upload the first five episodes at once, the release schedule is off from the release schedule at ThemeAndVariationsAnthology.com. I will upload the remaining episodes every two weeks in order to bring the Podiobooks release schedule closer in line with my main release schedule. Episode 6 should be up the week of November 16.

I really liked every story in this anthology. I am not a muscian, but my husband has been for over 37 years. I loved the way music, in one form or another was integrated into the stories. My husband liked the way each author used their true knowledge of music as a basis for each story. I don’t know any other way to say how much we loved these stories. We both hope more musically based stories will be forthcoming.
