The Sorcerer’s Secret
J. A. Areces continues his fantasy saga today with The Sorcerer’s Secret:
Book 3 of the Salem Concord begins where The Secret Society of Seven Sorcerers left off. In the Sorcerer’s Secret, Jesse ventures deeper into the wizarding world and discovers that the Wizardry must live a secret. A secret that history altered. A secret that FOLK must never learn. It’s up to Jesse and the secret wizard agent Ch-U-Ch to stop the forces that are trying to breach the Salem Concord and cause another Witch War. Meanwhile, Andrew and Brendan are learning that being a wizard in a FOLK world has its consequences. As their secret is revealed, they learn that they’re placing their friends lives in danger. It’s up to them and Chief Fabiano to stop Lord Alex from obtaining two of the most powerful magical items in the world. Time is running out, and on Halloween, one cry will be heard throughout the land, “The Witches are Coming!”

J.A. – I forgot to expect the novel to start today (October 31), can you believe it? It was a wonderful surprise! It’s great to have you back, and the story is better than ever.
I forget – did we already know that Alavance Wizards and Witches Corner Store (gulp) was not on a corner? I can’t remember that it ever came up. (Wonder if that fact has significance???)

Hi Gail, I’m glad your back listening! Happy Halloween! Yes, Alivan’s Wizards and Witches Corner Store is not located on a corner, which in the first book, Interview for a Wizard, Jesse found odd. No, it’s not a significant fact, just one of those weird things that the Wizarding like to do to confuse FOLK. Thanks for asking. I hope you enjoy The Sorcerer’s Secret. Please stay in touch.

Hi, When will the sorcerers secret be in itunes to download? Steven

JA, okay, I have now confirmed my status as FOLK.
Alivan’s Wizards and Witches Corner Store is NOT on a corner. (It is probably still a drinking game, though.)
I’m sure it’s the least odd thing about the store.

I’ve just listened to episode 45, chapter 40, and I’m very excited to see all the details and portents that were laid down in earlier chapters coming together for the story’s climax.
Mr. Areces, your storytelling is consistently improving, and is becoming more entertaining all the time. It is evident to me that your hard work is paying off! Thank you for sharing.

Mary Laura, thank you so much for you support and kind words. You have made my day. To be honest, not more than 20 min ago I told my wife I was thinking of stopping the recordings b/c it is a lot of hard work. And even though the numbers are great, I needed to hear from someone that they were enjoying it. You were that someone for me today. I appreciate this very much. So, tomorrow I’ll wake up at 5am to record some more, and Mary Laura, tomorrow morning, chapter 44 is dedicated to you.

I have enjoyed each of your books and hope that you have plans to write more in the future. I will be sad when this one is complete as I have looked forward to each episode as if I was one of the kids.

I love your books. I have listened to everyone you have here at podiobooks. My only problem is that when there is no new episode I always check in to see if a new episode may have been released and I have missed. When they are released, dinner, husband and children have to wait until I am ready listening too it.
Thanks for an exciting story where I feel close to the characters.

Keep up the great writing. So nice to have an interesting story line with characters you can really ‘get to know’. Thanks for a tale that us adults (men and women) enjoy but still the older kids can listen in on us to become the future listeners for you great writers! You are appreciated and we are proud to help support you (even though it isn’t much).

Hope there will more in the future from you. All three books are great and the character development has been fun to follow from each book to the next. Thanks!!!

I’ve really been enjoying the series. I just finished The Sorcerer’s Secret. It was very very very long. It was enjoyable, but I’d almost say it could have done with some serious trimming to speed things up and stay focused. Just my two cents.
I’ll be looking forward to the next book in the series.

It is hard to say anything bad about this book. It was so evident the whole way through, that the author has put a lot of time and hard work into it.
Pros: great story, a lot of creativity, originality, superb characters.
Cons: grammar, conjugation, tense; pronunciation; someone please edit this! A lot of cringe worthy English errors took away from the enjoyability of the story. Narration… i know you tried and should be proud, but get another narrator. I often couldn’t tell if the error was in the wrong words being written, or just narration errors.
—Too much repetition. There is no reason for this to be 55 chapters and not even come to a conclusive ending. i don’t want to hear the whole process for focusing one….more….time.
All in all, definitely worth the listen. But i do believe it will be much better if cleaned up.

Had a hard time rating the Writing. 5 stars for creativity and originality and development. 2 stars if you’re talking about english composition. I agree with comments on horrible grammar and way too much repetition, but it was also hard to tell if this was a problem with the writing, or the narrating. It seemed the ability to speak english degraded as the story droned on. Great content, but definitely get a good editor.

I am a fan of the series looking forward to the nest installment. However, the criticism concerning production is valid. The grammar and reading style have an adverse effect to the enjoyment of these books. I do, however, recommend the series, good story line and fun & interesting characters.

Someone please find me an editor!
On a good note, I just finished the fourth and finale book, The Last Sorcerer. I plan to start recording and editing the episodes this June and hope to release it, as usual, in October.
