Phil Rossi is back, today releasing his book, Harvey:
Television singing sensation Calvin Hubbard has been caught with his hand in cookie jar. An illicit affair with a contest judge costs him not only the competition crown, but his musical credibility as well. Fleeing the media fallout, Calvin exiles himself to the backwoods town of Harvey, Virginia. With a little solitude and a lot of cheap beer, he plans to write the next great rock and roll album and resurrect his career. But Calvin doesn’t know that a man has just been buried alive in the woods outside of town, and that this quiet murder is just the first in a string of macabre events. As the town goes silently mad around him, Calvin is unable to abandon the record of his dreams. Drunk on inspiration and blinded by an inexplicable lust, he careens headlong into the maelstrom, only to discover that he may be the town’s only salvation. Something is alive in the trees—an ageless, nameless evil—and it’s coming for everyone in Harvey. Now Calvin has to decide whether to run or to stay and fight… if it isn’t already too late.

Uh, “this podiobook is complete”?! Not sure what’s going on, but on Phil Rossi’s website, it’s up to episode 13, and still going.

OUTSTANDING. the prologue alone will give you nightmares. another mind blasters by a master fo psychological, supernatural horror. a must hear for everyone.

Pure Gothic horror that is hypnotic and seductive.
It had me by the ears from the first episode and is (figuratively) an addictive and unrelenting page turner …

Harvey will reach out and grab you the moment you start listening! Creepy and moody… very exciting… excellent character development and story plot line… narration is so wonderful you feel like you’re there, watching the horrifying events unfold around you!
Can not wait for each installment (and I’ve listened to 15 of them so far… # 16 dropped this morning!)

I love pretty much everything that Phil Rossi has put out, but I have to say that I think, so far, Harvey is probably his best yet.
Interesting characters, strong production quality, and a Creepy-As-Hell premise are all coming together to keep me looking for new episodes.
Oh yeah…those quiet strolls through the woods? Not happening anymore, thank you.

Creepy-As-Hell is the term I would use for the works of Phil Rossi
I prefer Cresent over Harvey for it’s sci-fi setting, as good horror set in a outter space science fiction is less common than this sort of horror set in a small town.
Horror stories seem to occure all too frequently in small towns.
But this is still very good and very creepy horror, you can almost taste the fear.

I have to say this one rivals Crescent. Really excellent, creepy book. I actually got goose bumps toward the end. I just finished listening last night and I’m anxious to see what is coming next. Now the hard part of waiting.

I feel like I should offer a counterpoint to this novel. This is my first time listening to work from Phil Rossi but I’m coming from other podcast authors like J.C. Hutchins and Scott Sigler. While the book was intriguing, I felt like it was simply too long. By the end of the novel, I felt nothing for any of the characters, and SPOILER ALERT,
the ultimate villian was [ SPOILER REDACTED ]?
END SPOILERS
The best thing I could say about this novel was that it should have been a short story. The intro intrigued me, but a complete lack of connectivity coupled with a total letdown in the antagonist really made me feel like the time I spent listening to the podiobook could have been used for something else. I remember thinking at the 2nd to last podcast, when things were finally climaxing, how Phil Rossi would wrap things up in one more Podcast. Ultimately, he does wrap up the story but in such a deus-ex machina way that it left me incredibly unsatisfied.

I totally enjoyed this. I didn’t quite “get” Crescent, but this one was in my ballpark. I term this “hillbilly Cthulu” and I believe that got Phil’s stamp of approval so subscribe to this our your soul will be consumed!

I loved this book! It was definitly my favourite of Phil Rossi’s work! I loved thr mordern setting mixed with the sci-fi/horror genre. I hope Mr. Rossi continues writing in this vein!

I gotta say, I LOVED Crescent. But this one… not so much. The ending really bothered me, both what the ultimate villian and the “weapon” that the main character uses felt really contrived.

This was a really enjoyable podiobook. If you like Stephen King’s old stuff, you’ll surely like this one. There are also hints of Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff’s original full-cast version of “Shadow Falls”. Next time I see one of those decorative vases filled with white twigs, I’ll always think of Harvey…………

Sorry but that is how I saw (heard) it.
I had listened to Cresent but had to stop half way through. I gave Phil a second chance with Harvey but I will not be putting any more of his books on my Ipod.

I listen to audiobooks while doing my artwork. This story had me pausing several times and listening. I loved the way the author read the different voices, they made it easy to discern who was talking. I liked the characters, they were believable, and the story was just SO creepy. Awesome work now Im going to look for more of your stuff.

This should be called “Clumsy” instead of “Harvey”…I lost count of how many times people were tripping an falling, falling through holes, or being knocked over in this book. People spend very little time on their feet, lol.
Also, am I the only one that caught that fact that Kate Bowman is SIXTEEN. She says so herself in the beginning of the story, yet she ends up with Calvin…

I thought this was a great podiobook. I could not turn it off because I had to know what was going on. Great job with foreshadowing, character development and building suspense. Off to find more by Phil Rossi…

top notch rossi! EDEN is an awesome concept! What a mind to think of this and put pen to paper, or finger to keystroke! Love this guys voice also, puts the right “umph” where it needs to go! Good Luck in the future and keep climbing that rope and hit the h*ll outta that road block!
