Serving Worlds
John Mierau makes his debut into serialized audiobooks, releasing his collection of tales, Serving Worlds:
A cowboy on the run to keep his soul. A vampire running a Nigerian investor scam. A wolf racing to the mountaintop, before a dragon can catch and kill him. A human protecting one of the aliens he fought in war, from an old army buddy. Meet these and other characters in Serving Worlds, the genre-blending podcast fiction collection from John Mierau. Weekly episodes are 20 minutes or less but Beware: there be cliffhangers here!
The first six episodes are in the default feed. If you want to leave it up to John and his “weekly” schedule, that will do you nicely. Or if you want episodes sent to you over time and on your schedule, then you’ll want a custom feed. Both are free.

So much for weekly episodes like the lead in says.

I wish I had seen this back in March. While it’s unfortunate this is an anthology — since I’d really like to see what happens next in the various stories — the tales contained within are fantastic. This could use more promotion. I look forward to more episodes.

I will wait to rate this until completion.
But I just want to say though…very pleasantly surprised at the quality of both the writing and the narration.
It’s difficult to tell that with the comments so far.
A real talent here. No doubt about that.
If there is an issue with the timeliness of the episodes coming out…it still doesn’t affect that.

I just finished listening to Crossing Lines. The audio, narration, and writing were all excellent. I would love to hear another story set in this world. I’ve read the next story, Marked Men, in the paperback anthology that it was published in, and I greatly enjoyed it. I look forward to listening to the rest of this anthology. I understand that one-person anthologies are usually harder to market, but this is definitely a sleeper hit.

I’ve just finished a few of the stories. So far the narration is of great quality and the stories are well written. It seems to be a nice anthology so far.

Great narration, and perfect stories!
This does need more promotion!

Early stories a bit uneven but got better as they went. The last set about the wolf was fabulous! Agree that the series needs more word of mouth. Am passing them on.

Very cool short stories. Well crafted and distinct. I admit skipping some that were too intense/explicit.
John, as of June 2010, there are spots where you have re-recorded phrases that didn’t flow right and both the original and repeat are preserved. And at the end of The List where the pauses have been added at the very very end, there are editing clicks. Just a heads up.

I reallylike your writing and interesting variety of stories. Hope you write more for Podibooks soon!

Fantastic. While I think there is a voice in the stories there is fantastic variety in the worlds. Hollywood only knows how to do stories where the narrative is about the power/gift/scifi element, you can do stories around that as well. Very cool.
