Blood Witness
Today Dave Hitt begins launching the serialized audiobook version of his novel, Blood Witness. As you can tell by the description, it blends two different genres:
Catherine is a 1500 year old vampire. (She’s really 1800 but she lies about her age.) Chris is a high school senior. She is a blood sucking creature of the night. He is a Jehovah’s Witness. Together they discover something that threatens the existence of every vampire, and the only solution is to break the One Law that binds them all.
Oh, that outta get someone’s blood pressure raised. No pun intended. The first five episodes of this serialized audiobook are in the default feed. I am subscribing with a custom feed so I that those episodes and new ones come down to me once a week. I can increase or decrease that frequency as I choose. ‘Cuz I’m cool. And so is our system.

Do you realize that by having a photo of a copyrighted magazine on the ecover that you’re violating the law?

I don’t want to speak for the originator of the image, but it’s not a reach to assume he’s making use of the Fair Use doctrine.

Just started the book, but already I’m hooked. Great story! Seriously, are you really that worked up by the cover? Somebody needs a hobby, I didn’t realize you have to be politically correct and religiously sensitive in a work of fiction!

Having studied with The Witnesses I can see why someone might have their “panties in a knot” since they do not accept blood products.Just not brave enough to state the real reason for the cover art comment. This is a very taboo subject matter on a few levels blood, the supernatural ect. I like the story & the fact you update frequently. Keep it coming. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

You are an amazing story teller.
I look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Dave
I’m dying for this week’s episode!!
Great!!!series, thanks so much. REally intruiging story, with quite a lot to think about.
some thing I find with audio, is it MAKES you pay attention to the subtleties.
I have to read a lot for work, and I get into the habit of skimming. BAD,BAD,BAD!!. Good to be forced to pay attention.
All the best, Dave,
Tyrone

I had loaded this into my ipod and was ready to do some chores one Sunday morning… when I happen to look out my front window and see a duo of strangers in their Sunday best making a beeline for my front door.
And irony of ironies, yes, it was Jehovah Witnesses.
No vampires though.
This book is sort of educational, if no theologian, on who and what they are. Pretty straightforward.
And the story itself full of it’s own irony.
You want these polar opposites, the vampire and the Jehovah Witness, to meet.
The prose is slim and to the point and the plot an entertaining listen.

I spotted this book a few times while looking for a good vampire story but I always skipped over it and kept looking because I didn’t think I would be interested in reading about a vampire and a JW. I finally decided to at least listen to a few episodes and before I knew it, I had listened to the entire thing in just a few short days and was wishing the story hadn’t ended!
Excellent job, Dave! You had me hooked from the get go.
It’s a cool story, well paced with great narration. You really draw the listener in and make them want to learn more about these polar opposite worlds – and wondering whats going to happen when these two worlds collide.
My only question is:
When does your next book come out?
Great job,
~Kenn

I am really not a fan of Vampire stories which is why this one caught my eye. I too thought that two such polar opposites would be interesting as a story line hook. The story over all was okay, there were a few parts where I almost felt like I missed a chapter. In other words some of the plot needed a little more development. It is an entertaining story and I could certainly see a sequel to this one.

Dave did a wonderful job with this book. It moves at a good pace – there are no long boring parts that make you scream at the author “Hurry up already!” Just enough character development to keep you going but plenty of open room for more books.
If you haven’t taken the time to listen yet – DO IT.

I really enjoyed the whole concept of the book. I was intrigued by the concept of mixing the classic vampire story with a
religious situation. It changed the “same old” vampire story into something unique and enjoyable.
