Very bad audio quality, and the story is not very good due to lack of character depth. I'm going to tough it out because I hate to end a book in mid stream. Not worth the download.

I really enjoyed this novel. Yes I do like historical fiction but I also like gangster and detective novels. In fact I like Ed McBain. I am looking forward to your next one John.

Katherine, thank you so much for your kind words. They mean a lot to me. You might like my next novel, Living With Capone, due on Podiobooks in early June, published by CreateSpace.com.

I really enjoyed this story. The author strives to make it as historically accurate as possible, so you really feel like you're swept back to the 1930's. If you're into historical fiction this book will be right up your alley. Also, on a personal note, I love the narrating author's accent. I was born in Florida, but my family is from the Midwest, so the narration felt endearingly familiar to me. Thanks!

Wow! Very embarrassing. Thanks to Literock for taking the time to post. I don't think it's anyone's intention to do less than their best and it certainly wasn't mine. I am trying to track down and fix the unedited upload. If anyone knows the chapter referenced let me know please.

If you're expecting a good 1930s gangster novel this isn't it. I usually finish any book I start. Audio or otherwise. I couldn't do it with this one. Really more of a love story than anything, this recording is unedited with the author pausing after every screw up to say "Change" and start the line over. Wouldn't be nearly as annoying if he didn't make so many.
The author's monotone voice and writing style left me bored and tired. I can't really recommend this one to anyone.
