The Zombie Chronicles going to print!
Congrats to James Melzer for joining the growing ranks of podcast novelists getting signed for book deals. In his own words:
The Zombie Chronicles Trilogy has been SOLD to Permuted Press in a 3-book deal that is a first for podcast fiction. Why? The opening book in the trilogy isn’t even finished yet! This deal comes based on all the episodes you have heard so far. Permuted has faith in the work, faith in me and faith in you–dear listener–that TZC will continue to be a success and while I feel the pressure already beginning to mount, I too have faith in all these things.
The book is still in progress here on Podiobooks.com. Oddly enough… James hasn’t even finished writing the book! I caution authors against doing it this way1, but James seems to be the exception to the rule. Thanks to Permuted Press for making an author’s dream come true — and for taking a chance!
1 – No, seriously. Don’t do this, even if it worked for James. Writing is a process. You write it. You edit it. You then edit it some more. And THEN you find a publisher. All sorts of things can go wrong when you break this pattern. The most obvious: you won’t finish. And that just disappoints people to no end. Like me. You don’t want to disappoint me, do you?

I would like to second Evo’s comment. FINISH THE BOOK FIRST! I got lucky and if I had to do it over, I would have finished it first. Believe me, it does add a certain amount of pressure.
Still though, it’s pretty damn cool!
