Screenwriter named for INFECTED

Scott Sigler announced yesterday that Eric Bernt has been selected as the screenwriter for the movie adaptation of his book, Infected. In a conversation with the author, Eric said:

I want all fans of Scott to know that I am committed to bringing an incredibly scary, intense version of INFECTED to the big screen. You will not be disappointed.

Mr. Bernt is no stranger to horror, penning screenplays for the 2007 remake of The Hitcher and this year’s The Echo. And back in 1995, he wrote Virtuosity, a film that featured a slew of Hollywood headliners, including Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

But don’t go buy your tickets just yet. Writing a screenplay is a necessary step in getting the movie made, but it’s not a guarantee that you’ll see it in theaters. Scott says:

If all goes well, we could see something in 2010. If all goes the opposite of well, it will never get made. I’m now raising my odds of seeing INFECTED in thatres from 50/50 to 60/40, and that ain’t bad.

    As I read this, right under “Not bad at all”, is a picture of the VeggieTales Pirate Movie, now on DVD. It finally dawned on me that this was just a Google ad, but at first reading I thought Evo was making a comment on exactly what sort of thing can get made into a movie these days :) .

    Alright, alright! I’m getting back to work already! Just no bitching after this movie comes out, hits you so hard it turns your nards into a puddle of goo, and you want the next movie. Some things are beyond even the FDO™’s control.

    Not so fast Scotty! Yes Infected was a great book, and yes Nocturnal is awesome, but we have yet to be honored with Contagious content, and where is that LONG awaited sequel to Earthcore…the beast that began it all for you that is more than worthy of having the sequel?? LOL, ok, enough busting your nards…you are doing good work, and finally getting the recognition you deserve….continue pumping out the killer content for all us junkies!!

    Honestly I can’t wait. Hmmm…wonder if they’ll actually shoot any of the scenes actually in Toledo (yeah, thanks so much for putting some scenes in the book in my fucking back yard Sigler…I really appreciate it). :P Congrats, BTW!

    it’s one more step towards world domination…(did you actually trademarked FDO™ ? bite me…plez) best of luck & money with that deal (and i do hope you made a great deal should the movie manifest).
