Like any good novelist, Sands does not make this a blind assertion, but puts it to the acid test, showing us what happens when both activities are thrust together. Here, Marine Major/Pastor Michael Farris finds a terrorist plot threatening himself and his church. They’ve killed his family, and they’re not stopping at that. How will this shepherd protect his sheep, and what will he have to do in the process?

One gets the impression that Mr. Sands has been often asked, “How can you call yourself a Christian and write violent thrillers?” and that this is part of his answer. A shepherd among wolves must be prepared to take appropriate action if he is to protect his charge. And sometimes waging war is the only way for a warrior to remain truly faithful.

Since you have an IPod, I would assume that the ITunes button would be best for you. But that is your choice.

It didn’t. Of course I’m not usually a reader of these kinds of books at all, but that’s what this stuff is for. When it’s free you can check out and try things you would otherwise never had (which is a good thing).

On the book itself I had almost expected a bit of a longer setup than there were. When stuff started to happen it happened almost immediately and very suddenly. Which suprised me a bit. On the whole the suspense kept me listening all the way but one thing nagged me majorly…

That would be the romance. I had honestly hoped all the way through that there wouldn’t be one. Or perhaps it would be between someone else than the main character. But when that tingly feeling in their stomachs started to come up… It was doomed.

But in the end I loved it. I would have liked more faith but I can see how it could easily have been tackier than the romance.

I listen to a TON of these podiobooks, mostly horror, sci-fi, and fiction, and this is the first story that literally made me cringe. First with the opening, and then with the murder of an innocent family. I have 4 small boys myself, and this really hit me in the gut. I really felt for Pastor Farris. I loved his transformation.

I can tell, through the writings, that Basil is a conservative christian, but that’s ok. He’s allowed to write stories based on his own feelings and beliefs. I don’t think any of his stories are propaganda at all.

Oh…I LOVED the cameos of characters from the other stories. When I heard their names I got all excited because I already knew who they were and what kind of people they were.

Overall, great writing and great story telling. I cannot wait for your next story, Basil. I love this stuff.

Vivid dipictions, excellent descriptions; real life, well developed characters; a great plot that grips, twists and evolves into a fantastically detailed piece of work.
The story is well paced, the dialogue is relistic, his writing style tight, but flamboyant.

I was immersed in this story. As it unfurled I became more intrigued, more drawn by the characters and more dissapointed in the knowledge that the begining was receding and the end advancing.

And! as if that were not enough, what a brilliant production.

Eceptional.

The bad: Nothing.

The niggly: Some occasional (and very excusable)mispronounciations that I have come to forgive Americans for. Shone pronounce shown, hovered pronounced hoe-vered. He he, sorry just being honest if a bit nit picky.

When someone writes, reads, or speaks we communicate based on the particular lens of the world view through which we see and understand.

I am a conservative Christian and therefore write through my view of the world as I see it. A person whose worldview is more liberal leaning or non-religious is of course going to understand the world quite differently and not identify with the characters in the same way.

It is funny though that you would equate my writing with a political party. A couple of others have done the same. Interesting how that works to demonstrate my point regarding world views.

I am sure you will find many terrific stories here on Podiobooks as there is something for everyone here, regardless of politics, religion or world view.

I am not a Christian (or religious for that matter).
I don’t respect religion though I respect religious people (misguided as they may be).

For me it was just so… Republican, and smelled like propaganda.

But don’t you worry….one of these days I’ll be there.

Two more books are already in the queue and outlined, now for the time to actually finish them.

I have loved ever would that Basil has ever written, he is by far the best author on Podiobooks right now. If only he could kick out the amount of work Sigler does, I would be a very happy man indeed!!!!!!

I can’t wait to hear this story – and anything that Basil does. Clancy who? Basil really is fantastic, and has gotten my heart pumping on numerous occasions. He creates a great world, and I highly recommend you check him out.

And as far as delivery – wow – lets just put it this way, the dude did a full-blown Farsi dialogue in “Karl’s Last Flight” – what more do you want the man to do?
