Great second book in the series. I have really enjoyed this series and hope Mr. Tuttle finishes his Podiobooks with the third book. I can hardly wait for it to follow this one. Some of the tactics in the war felt sort of slow and difficult to understand…no maps in an audiobook. Other htan that this was a good book. I do not however feel that it could stand on it’s own. I am sorry to have to say that because I do like the book and as a second in a series it works very well.

Donna, thank you for the warm comments. I am pleased that you enjoyed Dark Quest. You are correct that Dark Quest does not stand alone well. It is not intended to, which is why I mark it clearly as Book Two of the Targa Trilogy. My character development is intentionally gradual, designed to savor over multiple volumes. You will find this true in all of my works. You will see more of this in the third book of the Targa Trilogy when it appears on Podiobooks. Indeed, if you were to read all the way through the Sword of Heavens series and the Demonstone Chronicles, you would notice the characters still evolving, although in more subtle ways.

Thank you for listening to Dark Quest and taking the time to comment on it.

I am in love with ALL of the characters!! This is a great trilogy!! I can’t wait to listen to the final book!!

  4. Richard S. Tuttle Says:

Thank you, Amanda. The third book of the trilogy is Ancient Prophecy, and it is available on Podiobooks. Enjoy!

I think this is a good trilogy for pre-teens as an introduction to the fantasy genre. The ideas in this series (I’ve listened to the whole trilogy) are really quite good, and young readers would not be over-whelmed by language or content. As an adult reader, it was missing much of the detail that i need in order to really become part of the story. Still, it intrigued me enough to listen to the whole trilogy, and so, i say thank you!

    Need movies made about them!
