Vatican Abdicator
Mike Luoma is back on the site, today releasing the first episode of Vatican Abdicator, the book that wraps up the Vatican Assassin trilogy:
Bernard Campion, “BC”, has been an Assassin for the Pope - The Vatican’s Ambassador to Lunar Prime - CEO of The Project - Head of the UTZ Council - and now he’s the Pope of the New catholic Church, the NcC. But the mantle sits uneasily on BC. The Universal Trade Zone (UTZ) and The Universal Islamic Nation (UIN) are now forced to work together in the face of dual threats: The alien race, The Eldred and the recently revived survivor of the race known as the Ancient Enemy - Dolomay. Can BC remain Pope and still lead the battle against The Eldred and Dolomay? Can humanity come together to face those who would enslave them… or worse? It all comes to a head. There will be war… but who will be fighting who? Find out the answers - in VATICAN ABDICATOR!
But you’ll probably want to start from the beginning. That’s Vatican Assassin. Enjoy!

Hey Mike have loved the story so far.
How many ep’s do you think there is still to go before we are finished?
Is this really the shocking conclusion or will we be hearing more from The Illustrious Mr Campion who it has to be sad is one of the most honest and funniest carachters in podcast fiction today?

Hey revolver!
So glad to hear you’re a fan of BC! It’s been fun telling his tale, ever since he and I met in that sewer tunnel under Lunar Prime years ago. We’ve got five more episodes and an epilogue to go.
My original estimate was that it was going to take 28 episodes to present the story of “Vatican Abdicator”, but I ended up not breaking up a couple of longer episodes, so it appears there will be 25 episodes proper covering the chapters of the novel and the epilogue. We’ll still have 28 episodes in total, as I’m going to be reading my background material for the trilogy from the appendix to the special omnibus edition for the last three episodes.
As for the future of the future, I can’t say too much about what will be coming next without giving away too much about what is going on. But there will be… something. Next.

A heads up on what’s about to happen. Next Friday brings Episode 24 - Chapter Twenty-Three and the Epilogue from Vatican Abdicator. This is the end of the story. But there will be four more episodes after the story ends as we delve into my background material contained in the appendix to the trilogy.
It all starts with the “History of the Future” as I call it, my fictional future extrapolated from when I started writing the book in the 90s up to when the books begin in 2109. There are also separate background pieces on The Project and The Aliens. And more…
You can find that appendix in the hardcover Omnibus edition: http://glowinthedarkradio.com

Thank you, Anton! I’m glad to hear it worked! Thanks for taking the time to comment - that means a lot to me.
I wanted to mention to everyone that I have a new column over at http://cosmicbooknews.com called “Mike Luoma’s Making It Up”. It’s primarily focused on my comic book writing.

Well, that’s the end of the story of BC, the Vatican Assassin. I hope you enjoyed the ride! Thank you to everyone for downloading and listening, and for donating, too.
I’m currently writing a sequel series that takes place in the same future, twenty-three years after the end of “Vatican Abdicator”, featuring BC’s son Alibi as the lead character. Raised by his “Aunt” Anita Capituna, Alibi has grown up in space. His knack for being able to read when people are telling the truth has made him valued as a mediator working for the Solar Alliance. He has some parental issues, as you might imagine, so he doesn’t use his mother or father’s last name. The first book will share its name with him: “Alibi Jones”
That’s the future. As for the past, the appendix material in the last four episodes of “Vatican Abdicator” had only been available in the hardcover book - until today! I’ve just made it available as a stand alone paperback for $9.99 or as a 99 cent pdf download. Head on over to http://glowinthedarkradio.com if you’d like to pick it up. There’s more on all my books and stuff there.

I really enjoyed this look into the alternate future history of the Earth and all it should be able to occupy. I liked the way the characters evolved throughout the trilogy. I also hope that the author(s) will be able to take us further into the futrure with our familiar characters and new ones. I love this series, give it a 5/5 in all catagories. I also do hope that the trilogy can evolve into more than just this trilogy.

Free Contest, New Column & New Page of Panthea Obscura
My new column on creating comic books is up today at Cosmic Book News! Hope you can join me for this seventh installment. I’ll tell you about finishing up the second issue of Panthea Obscura with artist Juan Carlos Quattordio, relate my first con experience as a panelist, and…
There’s also a FREE CONTEST exclusively for the readers of my column, where you could win a signed copy of a rare comic book! When I was writing the column, I realized I still had one copy on the shelf of a special PREVIEW edition of Panthea Obscura Issue Two that I’d put together for my appearance at 2Pi-Con. This preview has the first half of the issue completely finished and lettered, with the second half showing the work in progress – some pages are colored but without letters, some pages are inked, some are half inks and pencils, the last page is just the rough pencils. Only five of these issues were ever printed. I’ll sign this one to the winner to make it a one-of-a-kind rarity. The column is here:
http://cosmicbooknews.com/articles/mlmakingup7
AND Panthea Obscura continues page by page FREE on the web! We’re up to page 10 of issue four – almost halfway through the book. The “gods” have taken the battle to their brother Troy, the Destroyer, in Hades! The Deep lets loose with his trident, shaking the foundations of the underworld with his mighty water control and earthquakes, surprising Troy! Read it here:

I was tipped off to a great site for ebooks: Smashwords: http://www.smashwords.com
As a writer, I upload my books to Smashwords and their software, known affectionately as the “Meatgrinder”, takes the original document and converts it into several different formats. Smashwords then makes the ebooks available for sale using PayPal. As the author, I can set a price for my book, allow the reader to pay what they feel like, or offer it for free. As Smashwords says on their website, they offer “…multi-format, DRM-free ebooks, ready for immediate sampling and purchase, and readable on any e-reading device.”
Decided to try it out! I’ve uploaded all three books in the “Vatican Assassin Trilogy”: Vatican Assassin, Vatican Ambassador and Vatican Abdicator, as well as my collection of poems, lyrics and spells, Synthetic Marmalade, and my book on Gnosticism and early Christianity, NEO-GNOSIS. I’ve set all five books to allow the reader to pay whatever they like for them. You’ll find them here at my Smashwords profile page: http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/mikeluoma .
There’s also a link on my site, so you can just head over to http://glowinthedarkradio.com and go from there if you like.

Just received an email this morning from Lulu. Get 10% off your purchase of any of my books through the end of this month! All you need to do is enter the sale code when you check out: JUNECONTEST10.
Lulu is conducting monthly “sales contests” where the authors who sell the most books win cash prizes. Blatantly trying to drive traffic to Lulu.com, of course! What the heck - Didn’t cost anything, so I signed up for June’s contest. I received the email with news of the 10% discount this morning. All of a sudden the contest seemed worth entering.
My books at Lulu can all be found on this page, my Lulu “storefront”: http://stores.lulu.com/mikeluoma
I was surprised enough by the discount that I wanted to share!
