Thanks for the good words!

"Horror/dark fantasy": surely you can see the horrific elements in any book that features scenes set in a public school :)

Firstly let me say that I'm more of a horror/dark fantasy type listener and I'm also not quite sure how I managed to listen to this book. But wow I must say that this is a brilliant story which had me cracking up on various types of public transportation... ('Clank' - lol)

Review wise cant say a bad word, Great Story, Brilliant Audio Quality and narration - I recommend this book to anybody 8years old and above.

Thanks for sharing.

Hello Jenna,

I don't know what to say, except that this is the sort of review that writers hope to get!

I'm happy that everyone at your house enjoyed it, and happier yet that you've been able to use the book as a point of family connection. That's a mighty fine thing.

I wish I could convey how much my family loved this book! Every episode was met with hysterical laughter, quiet smiles and lots of conversation... for hours afterward. My husband and I enjoyed this on so many levels... I have to say, the high school principal so reminded us of the principal at my son's grade school that we literally could not wait for the next scene that featured his absurdity. My 7 and 9 year olds were riveted by the engaging story. Jeff's tale is extremely well-written, and his use of the english language is sensational. The way that he tells the story is not to be missed!
We are now Jeff White fans and really hope he delivers another gem like this in the future.

Folks,

I appreciate the listeners, and especially the listeners who care enough about the trolls to vote, or to leave a comment.

Some people have even shown their appreciation with a donation. While I'm happy--ecstatic--that people are wanting to support podiobooks.com, for myself, I don't want your money. This book is a small part of my work in the world, and I'm happy you've all come along to check it out. I'm elated that some of the folks who listen in are enjoying it. Elated, and humbled. That is plenty enough reward for me.

I therefore ask that if you feel an urge to part with a few bucks over this book that you "pay it forward." I've asked Evo to give the author's portion of any donations for my books to First Book, an organization that shoulders the task of providing books to children of low income families. "Do you remember the magic of your first book?" they ask. I do. I'll bet you do too. Working together, we can identify kids who might find the same magic and comfort in books as we do, and give them an opportunity they might not otherwise have.

And, possibly, create a new generation of podiobooks listeners and authors! :)

Thank you. Again.

Jeff, thanks so much for this book. My two sons get to listen to two episodes a night before bed, and they LOVE the story. They're always eager for story time. The narration is perfect, too.

Hello Nia,

Your comments sure make me smile. Thank you.

Laughter is a good thing. Unexpected laughter is better. Laughter in places where it's not quite appropriate...church, classrooms, trains...is the best. So I hope you'll forgive me if I sorta feel honored that you're laughing with me, even if it gets you odd looks.

Jeff,

I've been listening to your story on the train to and from work, and the only bad thing I can say is I get really odd looks when I either grin or laugh at your story playing in my headphones. I don't mind, though. It's rare to find a story that makes me laugh in public like that.

I love your writing style, and I love your narration. You have the perfect voice for this. I hope this isn't your last work on here; it would be a tragedy.

I look forward to your next chapter on my iPod!

Nia

To readers trying to decide whether or not to listen: GO FOR IT. Just because it's a kid's story doesn't mean you won't enjoy it! It's light, it's fun, it's a good pace, and you won't regret it!

Hey there Chris.

I see your reviews all over this site. You must be quite the podiobooks listener! I'm glad you enjoyed the tale of the trolls. I had a blast writing it. Well, sort of a blast followed by huge bouts of frustration followed by sort of a blast. You know.

Thanks for listening.
