Movie planning for Forever Fifteen

It seems like more and more media producers are seeing our growing stable of authors as an important talent pool. Kimberly Steele, the author of Forever Fifteen writes to tell me:

… a wonderful director in Canada, Eva Madden, plans to adapt [Forever Fifteen] to script and within a few years, my book may become a movie! She’s worked on the sets of many famous films and TV shows and has won awards for her own films. She’s also very sweet and kind.

Kudos to you, Kimberly! Eva seems like one who has worked her way up through the ranks of production to writer and director status. Well done!

That’s wonderful, but don’t hold your breath. The majority of Eva Madden’s experience in the film industry is working in the sound department. She has written and directed a couple of shorts but never a feature length film. Not to mention, she didn’t win any awards for her own work on those films. Michael O’Neil won an award for the musical score that he contributed to one of them. I suppose that every writer and director has to start somewhere, though, so good luck.

Wonderful to hear your supportive comments Ariadne.

A quick note to clarify that Kimberly’s quote was her own and not Eva’s.

Eva is a very talented up and coming writer/director here in Atlantic Canada working her ass off to get ahead in the industry. She is a quality individual who looks for the good in everyone. A quick scan of the imdb is not a very accurate way to judge a career.

Oh yeah, I can attest the award-winning musical score composed by Mike O’Neill was done in close collaboration and I think Mike himself would be p.o’d by your comment.

Here’s wishing the best to Kimberly and Eva on the success of their project.

Here’s my real full name. What’s yours?

OMG! A 4EVR 15 movie would be the bomb! Heck I think it’s a great setting for a tv series even but tv would likely screw it all up with their ratings battles so movie is better. I wish the book was in print though at least thru Lulu as I have a niece that likes vamp. books but won’t listen to audiobooks (gasp! a teenager that reads!).

You’ve got to start somewhere, and the popularity of Forever 15 over the past few years has given Kimberley Steele a decent following online. No company wants to back a lame horse, and it is because of the popularity of this book that Eva obviously saw potential in a movie adaptation. Kudos to Kimberley, and I hope that a movie comes to fruition as do some many of her fan-base, new and old alike; and good luck to Eva with this undertaking.
Podiobooks really is a one-stop shop for movie producers, offering so much high-quality material. I really do wonder why more up-and-coming authors aren’t submitting their work to this website, because the services provided here can develop a lot of interest quickly. As a consumer I know how annoying it can be to weed through other websites to find a podcast novel that meets your needs as a listener or reader, but with a search of the Podiobooks catalog you can preview and find a good book to listen to in a jiffy.
