Double Share is COMPLETE!
Double Share, the fourth book covering the travels of young Ishmael Wong, written by the machine that is Nathan Lowell… is ALREADY complete.
Holy cow. I don’t want to hear ANYONE griping about not having time to finish one episode a week. Seriously.

Episode 21 is messed up. I’m only getting less than 4kbs when I download it. Either it’s not entirely uploaded to the server or it’s damaged. And the Report A Problem system is nightmare.

I’m re-upping it now but we’ll have to wait for Podiobooks people to check it and release it. Not sure what the problem was.

Indeed, why would anyone want to restrict themselves to one episode of this per week? It’s one of the few books I know that make me yearn for an audio-related word corresponding to “page-turner.”

My schedulefor this book gives me three episodes of this book a week. I still don’t get enough.

Is chapter 25 the final chapter? The page says it’s still “in progress” and it doesn’t have the annoying “the end” podcast tacked on, with the “you’ve caught up to the author” one still there.

It IS complete. Perhaps Chris or Evo can flip the “annoying” bit so the end shows up

Annoying bit added!

So when is the next episode??? Ishmael needs to make Captain before I stop wanting more
July 18th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
Captain’s Share will be out sometime this fall.

Man-O! Man-O! I cannnnnot read/listen as fast as Nathan, (the machine :), produces!
*griping*
lol - sorry, I just couldn’t resist

What about 2nd and 1st mate? Please do prolong the pleasure before Ish become captain. But keep up the pace - I am addicted.

We’ll have to see where 2nd and 1st fall out. I’m not sure where Captain’s Share starts yet .. i’m in the midst of editing Parsec award submissions and I haven’t had a chance to think about it yet.

Yes please prolong it a bit longer before Ish makes captain. This is one of the best podcasts I’ve heard and I can’t imagine it ending yet. Nathan your an awesome writer. Keep up the great work.

It’s a LONG way from ending. We’ve got Captain’s Share, Owner’s Share, and Cape Grace yet to go…

Oh. I was wondering how you were going to keep naming these!
Fantastic work. Now that you’ve moved the character out of his comfort zone and the story a bit out of our expectations, I’m curious if you’re considering no longer absolutely surrounding him with charming women. Don’t get me wrong, it makes for good banter, but it seems to me he hasn’t made any new male *friends* since the first novel. While I get that there are good reasons for this for the Tinker, do you think his captaincy will see more male officers and crew that he’ll be talking to on a regular basis?

you may have noted the new 2nd Mate ..
maybe see him again ..

I really liked Double Share. I think it is rare to hear a story about serious pain and challenge that is not explicitly also a lesson in morality. I felt like there was a moral center which was the self-focus of the main characters who sought not to teach others but to maintain dignity.
What I like about the entire series is how the people celebrate and enjoy one another.
Thanks

The thing I like most about Double Share and that I like least is how fast Nathan turned it out. I followed the books progress on his web site (and made some comments), but from the time the writing was finished until the podcast of the final episode, it was like being in a verbal hurricane. I am/was/will be blown away! My only comment is:
more, More, MOre, MORe, MORE, I WANT MORE.
I feel like an Ish junky.
Thanks
Scott

Thanks, Aimee — It’s not my intent to have a lesson in morality and I’m always a bit surprised when people point it out.
Scott, it’s coming …Captain’s Share will be out this fall and with any luck at all, we’ll have Cape Grace around Christmas.
