Taking a Brave Men Run up the Amazon charts!
Back in 2005, I said that Brave Men Run by Matthew Wayne Selznick was one of the finest podiobooks I’d ever had the pleasure of listening to. I wasn’t lying, and I said that even before we put the book up here on Podiobooks.com.
On July 13th, the book is coming out in a brand new paperback edition from Swarm Press, and Matt is asking the podo-and blogosphere to help him push the book up the charts on Amazon.com. Yes, you know the drill. We’ve done it before for Sigler, Harwood… and I forget who else. Don’t tell those guys, but I like Matt better. No, seriously. Don’t tell them. Seth is bigger than me, and Sigler looks like a scrapper.
But Matt isn’t sitting back and hoping you’ll all do his bidding. Far from it. This guy know he has to work for his chips, and has a whole slew of activities planned for you this coming Sunday. I’ll let Matt tell you more:
Ladies and gentlemen, on Sunday, July 13, 2008, every hour on the hour for eight hours beginning at 10:00 AM Eastern / 7:00 AM Pacific time, I will present a brand new, original short story set in the first year of the Sovereign Era universe. These stories — official Sovereign Era canon — are from some of the most respected authors of podcast fiction:
- J.C. Hutchins (The “7th Son” trilogy)
- Mur Lafferty (”Playing For Keeps”)
- Nathan Lowell (The “Golden Age of the Solar Clipper” novels)
- Matt Wallace (”The Next Fix”)
- J.R. Blackwell (Voices of Tomorrow)
- P.G. Holyfield (”Murder at Avedon Hill”)
- Jared Axelrod (The Voice of Free Planet X)
I’ll be reading each story aloud, on camera, absolutely live, in random order — so be sure to check in every hour so you don’t miss your favorite author!
I can’t tell you how excited I am about this. I know each author worked very hard on their stories, and I’m honored and humbled by how willing and eager they were to play in the Sovereign Era sandbox. My universe is richer for it.
So here are your marching orders:
-
Wait to place your Amazon.com order until after 10:00 AM Eastern / 7:00 AM Pacific on Sunday, July 13th 2008
On or after that time, visit BraveMenRun.com and watch Matt do his thing live and in color.
Buy another book. You know someone who would like it. Come on. Sure you do.
And if you want do do more, spread the word. Details on how to do that on Matt’s original post. See you Sunday.

I AM bigger than Evo!! It’s true. And I’ve personally seen Sigler make a grown man cry by diving at his ankles and twisting them up into a pretzel. Serious. The guy’s already half-way down there and he just shoots at your feet. Be careful!
Truth is, I like Matt Selznick better than myself and Sigler too (especially better than Sigler!) and I’m 100% going out to buy Brave Men Run on Palms Sun– (er,) July 13th!! this Sunday to help him kick the crap out of Harry Potter, Tori Spelling (are you f***king kidding me? She’s got the #10 book on Amazon?), and Wroblewski! Fugg Wroblewski! Let’s GO SELZNICK!!
Yeah people, we do this!

Ok, Guys, how small is Sigler? I’m new here, but I’ve heard it before, and the legend of his diminutivity (sic) is itself non-diminutive. Are we talking trying out for the “women’s” gymnastics team or is he just a bit shorter than average?
On a serious note, I’ll be placing that order for BMR to go on the shelf next to Infected and Jack Wakes Up. And I still gotta leave room for Hutchins, Lafferty, and the next version of JWU.
