Time Crime
Nathan Lowell takes a break from his own stories to narrate Time Crime by H. Beam Piper:
From Astounding Tales Published February and March 1955
The Paratime Police had a real headache this time! Tracing one man in a population of millions is easy—compared to finding one gang hiding out on one of billions of probability lines!
This story from 1955 has rocket ships, time travel, slaves, post-hypnotic suggestions, drugged citizens, and a complete disregard for human rights. And those are the good guys. As a look back in time at “classic” science fiction, it’s an interesting snapshot of a time when tobacco was common, sexism was unconscious, and female characters were a long way from Lara Croft.
You can hear Nathan’s original work on the highly acclaimed serialized free audiobooks Quarter Share, Half Share, Full Share and South Coast.

Hi Nate! Great story and wonderful narration! Thanks for bringing this story to us. Seems like the last episode was cut off abruptly, could you check it out and maybe put up a revised complete episode so we can finish the story?

I’ll grab a download and double check it, but the file size reported from the server is correct.
The narration was very difficult because I wanted to make sure I read the words that were actually on the page. And the names … omg.
I should have looked a little more closely before I volunteered to take on a book filled with names like Jandar Jadd and Skordran Kirv … my tongue is still tingling.

Nate,
I enjoyed your reading of Time Crime. I was really looking forward to this, because my two favorite things are Time travel stories and Old (40s and 50s) Science fiction. I was only slightly disappointed that I had already read the story. I can’t wait for Double Share. Any news on that front? I’ve gotten my roommate interested in the Share Series and we’ve listened to the entire series 3 times so far. That’s on top of my own 6 times before she got into it.

Double Share is … coming.
I’m REALLY sorry it’s late, but you’re gonna be pleased when it’s ready, I’m pretty sure.

Interesting story and interesting writing, the narrating wasn’t half bad either. Can’t wait for Double Share.

This book looks good. I began listening to it and was delighted to find that there was a familiar voice on it. I’m in the line for Double Share, too, Nate.
I sent in a feedback on number 3 of Time Crime, because it seems to me that it gets cut off mid-sentence with the podiobook blurb at the end. I’m not sure how much is missing; so I’m not budging on it until I hear back. Chris already wrote and asked me to download it again from where the book itself is. I did that, but it still seems to be missing something. Did anyone else notice it?

I swear to the gods that this file is going to be the death of me. Nate and I have replaced it at least three times.
When I see him sign on tonight, we’ll try again.
