Hey, Evo,

I enjoyed the list. Writing is even harder work than I thought. Count me as grateful for all the people who are willing to do it.

That's good advice, Tim, but one I dish out with caution. Listeners have their own interests in mind when they make requests for changes, and that change may not necessarily be a good idea. I've seen way to many podcasters and a few authors rush to implement every piece of advice their audience gives them, often to dismal results.

Weight the opinion, try and honestly evaluate the value it will add, and then act on it accordingly.

Also, don't be afraid to listen to your listeners when they give you some advice to make your show better! That's why when I do my books I don't record everything at once then publish it, you never know when you'll get that once piece of advice that'll make your work sound better.

Yes. Amen. I agree. As a guy who tears through audiobooks as fast as possible, I can definitely say that all these things are good things. It goes like this: Podiobooks announces a new book. If it is a plot I think I'll like, I subscribe. But if the audio is bad, I'm out. I won't get more than 2 installments before giving up. It's simply the question of whether it is tolerable or not. You may have a great book on your hands, but if I can't stand to hear you read it, I'm out.

I will add one. Don't get too full of yourself. There are a handful of superstar podiobook authors out there who release a 45 minute episode that has about 15 minutes of actual story because they're so busy telling us about how awesome their lives are going. Don't do that. Sure, I'll keep listening to your story if it is well produced..but it'll go to the bottom of my queue. And if I've got somebody else on "New episode every day" and I've got you on "One episode a week" (remember, the vast majority of your audience will not be with you during your initial release), then I might as well be unsubscribed because I will eventually get behind with you and just stop caring if I ever finish the story.
