isis62, sorry you weren't into it. I thought the story was pretty straightforward. Water starts mysteriously falling out of one of the characer's faces and another one goes out to figure out why. It seems to symbolize anguish, so she goes looking for his often missing wife. That's all. It's a sort of magical journey thru southeast Kansas... so, not for everyone.

I did narrate it. Sorry that wasn't so hot either. It's harder than it looks, I'll definitely say that!

Sorry but I did not really like this. Too many characters, no clue as to what the story line was if there even was one. The narration was not so great either. I think maybe the author narrated this, so my apologizes for the criticism. I like to do reviews because I read a lot of them myself, this book might be enjoyed by someone else but I just didn't get it.

Arana, thank you so much! I really appreciate it! I was so excited to see this, this morning. The characters probably feel real because, honestly, every single one is based on a real person and the CASA was a real group house in my hometown. Great bunch of crazy guys and girls.

i admit, while i was quite weary of the magical realism genre, i was very pleasantly surprised by this book. i enjoyed the characters (i'm a sucker for characters) and the whimsy added a succulent touch to it. i'm currently on my way to russell's website to read more fiction.
