Yeah, I’ve vowed that this and “Heaven” are the only two I’m gonna listen to “in progress”. I ripped through the first two books and now waiting for each chapter of the third is just torture. I guess that’s a bitchy way of saying 7th Son is really, really good. The only clone story I’ve ever liked, let alone gotten addicted to.

I just started with the “story so far” and I want to thank you for doing that in a normal way. As much as I loved book two I couldn’t get through the “the story so far” part of it because of all the ‘celebrity’ guest. It just annoyed me to no end because it seemed like they spend more time promoting their podcasts than telling me what happened, I had to skip it. So, thank you for doing that part yourself! I don’t mind the Celebrity “the story so far” in the beginning of each chapter, but I always thought it was better of the author did that himself.

So much fun! I really appreciate the fine writing and the trouble J.C. takes to make his narration professional and engaging. Kilroy2.0s voice in particular really makes his character come alive. I look forward to the end of the trilogy and to more from J.C. in the future.

I got hooked on 7th Son earlier this year. It was the first audio novel I ever listened to and one of the first podcasts I ever listened to. It was awesome. Your reading stye has really improved over time and now I have to say you are one of my favorite readers in the audio books genre.
But, more importantly is the material. You are a very good writer. I must say I have had fun all the way thru this rollercoaster ofa trilogy. I am looking forward to more from you soon.

I would like to take some time to say that I am exstatic to see that JC Hutchins has not lost any of his ability for telling a kick-*** story. The story is getting better as the series nears the climax. I am so glad to know that there is is still some originality in the sci-fi action genre.
I cannot wait to see how you top this trilogy.

Hi Jeff, I’d been listening to audiobooks for a long time when I discovered Podiobooks. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. One of the first books I subcribed to was EarthCore. I’ve listened to 4 of Sigler’s books and enjoyed them. I also particularly liked Bill De Smedt’s Singularity.
But I’ve still got to say that JCs 7th Son Trilogy is the BEST.
Sigler has created a lot of buzz about podcast books (a good thing) and his books are fun, but I really like the plot twists that come from JCs mind. IMO there’s more “story” here as compared to the shock value of Sigler’s horror stories. Having said that I’m sure I’ll be enjoying the work of both authors in future.
Right now I’m waiting patiently (or I should say impatiently!) for the next episode of 7th Son. Was deighted with the ‘Kilroy solution’ in the last episode… didn’t see that coming.
Although I’m anxious to know the ending, I’m going to be sad when it comes and will be waiting for more from JC Hutchins.

To my loving, awesome, ever-diligent, always-vocal, beyond-beautiful Beta Clones…. I come to you tonight, on my knees, pleading for forgiveness.
Yeah. The new episode’s gonna post later than I anticipated. CODE PHANTOM is clobbering me this week (I’ve actually taken the week off from work to write the new novel), and the workload pushed back my writing of the new “The Story So Far” script for this week.
The script was sent to the guest reader this morning, but he’ll need free time to record it. If the episode is a no-go by early Friday evening, I’ll likely hold off on posting the episode until next Tuesday.
I offer no excuses, and plead for your continued patience and understanding. CODE PHANTOM has an uber-tight deadline, and as much as I want to post 7th Son episodes each week, the paying gig comes first. Please accept my apologies, and look for the new ep next Tuesday at the latest.

I think a lot of us have maybe got fed up with how long 7S has been going, I’m now totally enraptured with Crescent which is utterly awesome, 7S is great, but Crescent is just mind-numbingly brilliant…. I’m still looking forward to 7S but it’s lost the edge for me, kinda just didn’t get there in time for me… 7S rocks but Crescent is everything that 7S is plus scary… REALLY scary!

JB — Be careful projecting your feelings on other, a wise old psychologist once said to me. I’ve been hanging on the edge with JC the whole way, and I knew how long the story was taking. Some take longer to tell than others. That’s OK. Just like it’s OK that it’s lost its edge for you. No one is faulting you for that. It happens.
And here’s where I take a departure from my own advice: I’m sure that J.C. is happy as a pig in poo that you are enjoying Phil’s book, too. He’s just that kinda guy.

As I said though 7S rocks, I’m a fan, big time - just think maybe it could have been better managed now we are so close? But what do I know, it’s great and I love it. I’m sorry if I upset anybody, didn’t mean that honestly.

I agree with your sentiment JB.
Firstly I think it is fantastic that these books, which JC reads with such skill and care, are available free, for us all to enjoy.
I am also very glad that CODE PHANTOM has come up and JC is benefiting from his innovation and awesome work.
However, I am sorry to say that having to wait up to a fortnight for around half an hour of story can become highly frustrating.
JC, It was nice of you to post your update, but without being too presumptuous, I would like to remind you of something. You acknowledge this point indirectly in the working title for your new project.
In your post you write ‘the paying gig comes first’. I would like to ask you which one is really the paying gig? Would CODE PHANTOM, and therefore your new ‘paying gig’ exist at all if not for the success of 7S? And if not, then is it not 7S which is the real paying job?
I am trying very hard to NOT lose interest in 7S. In fact, this close to the end it actually seems ridiculous to do so. Unfortunately, logic does not necessarily determine my interests.
All I am asking is for you to remember us, your viral marketers, who ‘might’ perhaps have paved the way to your current payin$ job.
The only reason why I write this is because of how much 7S has given me. I have cared, and I have spread the word too. Unfortunately, however, I am beginning to forget why I cared.
Good luck with CODE PHANTOM JC. You deserve it. 7S is really brilliant. I admire not only your imagination, but your top notch voice over work. I have paid $$ for audio books with amazingly inferior voice talent.
For now, it looks like ‘my’ paying job is dragging me further away from 7S. I hope I can come back soon for a proper goodbye…

I just love these stories that are not disney-fied with the “and everyone lives happily ever after”. Whatever way this story ends off, we still have a world of baked carnage. Fascinating. Keep up the great work!

Bob — Um, you’d definitely want to listen to the first two books. All three books are part of a continual narrative, and you’ll be less than pleased if you come in a third of the way through the story.

I want.. née… NEED more 7th Son! It’s just that amazing.
I listened to the first book rather patiently. Took one episode a week. Until book 2. I really blazed through that, an episode a day, sometimes 2 or 3.
And now the same with book 3. It’s addicting, it grabs you either by the cojonas or by some other body parts, and drags you through the story at blinding pace, leaving you hanging after each episode. It’s a true rollercoaster ride.
And now I need more. MORE! JC, our true master, please give us more.
(but indeed business before pleasure, Code Phantom needs to be written too. Can’t you let some clone do the recording?

John Alpha is the President of the United States?! (Heard the excellent promo on N1B). Brilliant!!! The 7th Son podcasts have made my 1 hr cycle-commute seem to pass in the blink of an eye! I love it, need it, crave it! Perhaps JC has been psyjacked by Scott Sigler and this is why we have been left hanging for so long!!!

Getting me all misty eyed over the funerals of a few fictitious people (without the use of a dramatic score, like Hollywood does).
I was driving my freaking car at that time! I wasn’t able to really cry!

Wow. Finished in time for Christmas.
Just downloaded the last episode; I’ll listen to it during my cycle home. Might have to detour to hear the whole thing. Actually feeling quite sad that it’s all over…
Any plans to release this on slices of dead tree at all? I’d love to have this on my bookshelf…

If you are listening to this story, but haven’t read the other two? What the heck do you think you are doing? Go and read book 1 and 2 first, and then come to book 3. Go on! We’ll wait.
Okay, everyone on the same page again? Great.
This story is great, no scratch that, it’s AWESOME! It’s a must read, a hang-on-to-yer-seat-here’s-another-cliffhanger story, it’s a d*mn-you-JC-for-making-this-story-so-addictive story. It really plays out as a movie in your head.
JC really pulls it off. It seems as if this novel was made for the podiobooks format.
This third novel is a fitting end to the thrillride that is 7th Son. The revelations, the stand off at the 7th Son complex, the sad moments at the funerals. I don’t want to spoil anything to any new listeners out there, let me just say this: you must listen to this! Yes, “must”; it’s mandatory.
If you listen to podiobooks, then you must listen to this whole series.
Oh and congrats on the print-deal. (Any chances of translations? I know quite a few Dutch people who’d love this story, but aren’t that well versed in English.)

This is a great Trilogy. The whole story was excellant and I felt it finished on a real high. There were lots of intersting twists in the final book.
My only criticism would be that sometimes the nail-biting parts of the story were being dragged a bit long than required. The narration of the worldwide chaos caused by Alpha was really good. The events were explained very well to make them believable.
Hats off to JC for wonderfully giving distinct voices to the great many number of characters in the novel including the seven Betas. I found the “story so far” at the begining of all the episodes to be very useful. However I hated the long ad like stuff at the end.
Congrats to JC on the book deal and I wish him all the best in his future endeavours. I might not be buying the book but I did donate money through podiobooks.com as a token of my appreciation and thanks.

I love the story you have done a great job with both the plot and the characters. I admit to fast forwarding through the story so far and the end ads but only because I listened to the episodes so quickly i knew what the story was and Infection will be my next and I did donate money I love the whole podiobooks concept.
My only complaint is the volume on the music at the beginning and end of the story. I listen while working out and in somewhat noisy places and the story level is fine at full volume but the end music could blow eardrums with the volume rise.

My love for this trilogy is never-ending. I finished all three books recently and I had to give my regards to the author, the audio editor, and the music artists - this book and its sisters are the best thing I have read yet this year, and last year. The story is compelling and the charectors are believable to a point where I feel as though I could sit down over a cup of coffee and talk to them myself. Another thing I absolutely adored about this trilogy is that the J.C. didn’t go overboard with the voices, as I’ve heard many preforming authors do. Perhaps an octave higher, perhaps lower, maybe slightly nasally, or even gruff - nothing over the top, and all perfectly understated.
I cannot wait to buy a copy of 7th Son: Book One: Descent for myself and to share with everyone so they will know the compelling tale of the beta clones, and I definatly cannot wait to hear more tales from J.C. Hutchins in the future

Whilst this series was what got me into audiobooks initially, it would have been really good if the bad guys had won this round! That way, there would be more!
