Book video channels
Simon & Schuster recently introduced a video channel on YouTube. As of this posting, there are 18 videos on the site featuring the authors discussing their books, interviews and the like.
It’s interesting to note that traditional publishers are looking at social media sites more and more as ways to raise awareness of their products. The publishing industry is facing serious change as peoples attention shifts from traditional to new media sources. Smart publishers will not only find ways to reach new readers through social media, but will find ways to utilize new media to provide their content to their listeners.
On a related note, there are now 15 videos up on the Podiobooks.com Magnify site. So email your favorite podiobook author and sent them both links in this article so we can get a few more up there!

Also keep in mind that some science fiction conventions have a television station or other way of broadcasting video– and that such channels would love author content. For example, BayCon, in San Jose, CA, takes over a channel in its hotel each year to show fan videos and independent content. We’ve started showing author promos, and we’re always looking for more! Authors should email bctv@baycon.org if they’re interested.
