Why traditionally publish at all?

Michael Dunn follows the changing nature of media, specifically as relates to audio (hence the name of his blog). Seeing the success many authors are seeing by podcasting their work right here on Podiobooks.com, he asks the question:

[W]hy do so many of them still want to attract traditional agents and publishers when they’ve been frustrated and rejected by these same folks so often in the past?

An excellent question. Feel free to answer it here or answer it there. Either way, I look forward to the conversation.

Er, Michael Dunn, there’s this paper folding stuff called MONEY that people use to exchange for goods and services. Its quite useful for doing things like eating and keeping a roof over your head.

Maybe that’s why people want to be published - it would be nice to be PAID FOR YOUR WORK!

not denying that paulo, i did state that monetization is important to some, i simply ask why give some of that money to a clueless middleman you really don’t need anymore - look in the sidebar right on this page, that donation widget has a better future than traditional agents do…
