Server Progress

We have the new server, and Ray is going to be configuring tonight and this weekend. After that, I’ll move the site and the database, so expect there will probably be some downtime this weekend while we move. The plan is that, by Monday, you’ll be looking at us on our new dedicated server.

For everyone who asked, we’ve gone with Surpass Hosting, thanks to a recommendation by Clair High (who you might know from the Tag In the Seam podcast via his fiancee, Leann Mabry). They offer us the bandwidth we need and have reasonable pricing as well.

Thanks to everyone who suggested Rackspace, but unless we suddenly strike it rich, that won’t be happening any time soon. They are a superb facility, but a little out of our budget.

I’ll keep everyone informed this weekend as things progress via the blog and Twitter.

    The new server is great. I didn’t pay attention to the download speed on t he old system, but I’m getting speeds of about 888k this morning. Fantastic.
