Since the Sundering, all use of the Breath has been outlawed. The Overlord and his family have destroyed all who could wield that mighty power. Now, the Overlord’s own son needs that outlawed power to unseat his father.

Having spent her entire life trying to stay unnoticed, Elena is forced to come to grips with the Breath’s curse when her only child is ripped away from her. A pawn in the game between the Duke and his father, she must find a way to rescue her daughter and remain free of their manipulative grasp. When she does, her entire world collapses around her, and she realizes just how dangerous this game is.

As she struggles to out maneuver the Overlord, the Duke, and their supernatural allies, Elena must find a way to defeat them both. If she cannot, the entire world will pay the price.

Hey Lonnie, welcome to Podiobooks. It is great to see Daughter of the Sun here. It is a great addition.

  2. Lonnie Ezell Says:

Rick - thanks for the warm welcome. I’m very excited to be part of this family and to see how the New Year treats all of us here.

I wanted to apologize to everyone for the recent lack of movement. I did take a couple of weeks off around the holidays (just shortly after posting the first 7 chapters). Now, though, I’ve got the next couple of chapters recorded, the Story So Far for both of them have come through. Which just leaves editing and posting.

I had hoped to have both of those up today, but here in Springfield, Missouri, it’s been declared a local disaster area with over 130,000 people out of power. I’m one of those. I’m posting this at work, but I don’t think they’d want me bringing my computer in and editing instead of working. :)

As soon as power is restored, I will get the next episodes back up. Thank you so much for your patience. The story will continue, I promise!

    Lonnie

  4. Dana Says:

I’m enjoying the story so far!

  5. Lonnie Ezell Says:

Dana - Thank you so much! And-as fast as things have been moving so far-things are really just getting started. Hope you keep enjoying it and letting everyone know! :) Feel free to jump in the forums over at my website, also. http://www.LonnieEzell.com/

Glad it’s back on track. Great characters and good story so far!

I reallllllllly enjoy listening to your novel! I get frustrated because I listen to it at work and love my weekends, but can’t wait for Monday so I can get back to the story. I also have to say that you have a nice voice to listen to, sorry, this isn’t a pick up. I have started listening to a few podio books and not liked the narrators voice, which turns me off from the story. Who wants to get addicted to a story with a voice booming in your head phones that you can’t handle… I won’t say names. So I felt it pertinent to say that yours does your story justice! :~)

  8. Lonnie Ezell Says:

    lilyanarose -

Thank you so much for the kind words! I was a little worried when I first started about how my narration skills would be (and I think you can tell that on the first couple of episodes) but I since feel like I’ve hit my stride. It’s great to hear from a listener that I’m doing the job that I feel like I’m doing, and not distracting from the story.

Don’t know where you are in the story, but I hope you enjoy the rest every bit as much!

  9. Dee Says:

My iTunes stopped downloading with Chapters 35-36 for some reason. I see 39-40 listed here on the site, but not 37-38! HELP! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!

  10. Lonnie Ezell Says:

We’re just trying to mess with you and leave you in suspense. Just kidding! :)

Chris discovered that yesterday and emailed me. I sent him the info and the problem should be resolved shortly.

    Glad you’re enjoying it!

  11. Evo Says:

And if all else fails, hit the title’s webpage (click the book cover in your My Subscriptions tab) and scroll down. All of the episodes you’ve been sent will be able to be downloaded the manual way. Not an optimal solution, I understand. But strange things happen…

  12. dianne Says:

Lonnie, I am really enjoying this book and look forward to future episodes.

I am now downloading the stuff manually due to connection problems, unrelated to Podiobooks, with the iTunes software. Half the time that the program says that something has been downloaded it is nowhere to be found on my hard drive which makes manual downloads more reliable.

  13. Chris Says:

So is that it? Are there more episodes to come?

  14. Lonnie Ezell Says:

Chris - yes. That’s all of book one! You made it to the finish line. I do have one more episode in the pipe which I had hoped to get out last week, but my freelance work demanded more time than anticipated. It’s a “behind the scenes” essay that was originally included in the limited edition of the book. It will get finished up this weekend.

    Thanks for listening!

  15. Tara Rayne Says:

So far this is one of my favorite books I’ve found here on PodioBooks. I am down to the last four episodes and I can’t wait to find out what happens. I haven’t had a chance to visit the web site yet I hope to do that today. Is there a print version of this book available for purchase anywhere?

  16. Lonnie Ezell Says:

Wow! With all of the incredible books here, I consider that high praise indeed. Thank you so much for the kind words!

You’re in luck! There is a print version available at Amazon.com (and a number of other online retailers). Here’s the Amazon link:

  17. PuddyRat Says:

Okay, I just happen to think this book would make a great movie! As I worked, I was totally visualizing the enviornment on a cinematic screen.

When I first started listening, I thought the pace a little slow. I took a break and listened to some other stuff, then came back to the story and and discovered I couldn’t put it down. I was always sorry to reach the end of my shift because it meant waiting until the next day to find out what was happening. Heaven forbid a weekend should insert itself there!

I’m glad I finished listening to this. The story was enthralling, the narration good, and the characters complete. I especially liked that the heroine was reluctant to accept her role as such; it made her more believable.

I’m curious as to whether or not Mr. Ezell has any other stories planted in his imagination? I can’t help but think with as fertile as the field seems to be, there should be more coming forth. Thanks for a great story. I hope to see more.

I have just started Podiobooks and learned very quickly to download manually to successfully get all the chapters. I love the story line and am excited to continue on a daily basis. I agree this would make a great movie or TV series. I am a very slow reader and sometimes need to back up to re-hear parts so I can get the imagery in my mind. I prefer a slower pace but the narration is awesome with the variation in tone & expression of feelings when speaking in charactor. Great voice easy to listen to.

  19. hartwea Says:

Great story! I have really enjoyed listening to this, and look forward to hearing the rest. I at first downloaded it for something to listen to, not giving it much thought, but have really come to get into the story. I ran across it on zune’s marketplace, but via your comments after an episode, ended up here so I could rate the book. I really hope others find their way too it as well, because it’s very enjoyable. And along with some previous comments, you’re voice is the best podiobook voice I have heard hands down. Usually I don’t like when there are female main characters and the person reading is a male, but I wouldn’t have it any other way in your case. =)
