We just made it easier to listen to podiobooks

In our never-ending quest to get our authors’ books in front of even more people, we’ve just released two changes to our system that effectively remove the subscription-only and members-only requirements from Podiobooks.com. As cool and as handy as the customized individual download feeds remain, we recognized (OK, I finally rolled-over) that not everyone wants to listen to our books in that fashion. And not everyone wants to become a member (totally free) of our site. Sure I still think it’s crazy not to do both, but none of us want to live in a world where I’m the arbiter of sanity.

  1. Listen/download any chapter of any book - Maybe you don’t get the whole “podcast” thing. Perhaps you’re the kind of person who just wants to click a link and have a file start playing. Or maybe you just want to download all the episodes of a book in real time, ‘cuz you’ve got a fat pipe and are cool like that. Groovy. Knock yourself out. You can now listen and/or download any chapter of any title we have on the site. Find a book, scroll down to the episode listings and click away on any of them to your little heart’s desire.
  2. iTunes feeds are now complete - The original plan was to put out a sampling of the first three episodes on iTunes, then get folks to come to Podiobooks.com, register and subscribe to the book to get the rest. Well, sometimes it’s not a good thing to be that different from the way everything else works. So for the folks who might find feeds for Podiobooks.com titles on iTunes, they’ll now find them complete. Well… as complete as they can be, in the event the title is still in progress. But all completed books are complete. You get what I’m trying to say.
  3. Please note that these are options. Membership on the site (totally free) is still encouraged and is, in my not-even-close-to-humble opinion, the best way to listen to our books. But now… you don’t have to agree with me. Instead, just enjoy more books!

This is great! I’ve always missed this feature of just being able to download chapters without having to sign up for a feed. For me it is much more convienent to listen to a new chapter when I want, rather than waiting for it to pop up in my feed program.
    So many thanks :-)
