Authors share of contributions increasing
Might as well get this out quick: the percentage paid to authors from all listener contributions is, effective December 1, 2006, increasing from 50% to 75%.
Yeah, we rock.
Actually, those people putting in the sweat, blood and mic-time of making their books available in a free serialized version here on Podiobooks.com rock. And in a world where plenty of folks are constantly trying to take more and more away from the author, I want no confusion over which camp I’m in.
So starting yesterday, 25% of your contributions will be retained by the staff here at Podiobooks.com. Everything else goes right to the author. Wow, glad to hear it! No doubt you deserve 50% for everything you’ve done, but if you’re able to get by with two dimes and a nickel in the mean time, surely it will help attract more excellent authors to podiobooks.com….and hopefully the increased listeners and a > 25% increase in contributions will follow!

Heh. I wouldn’t go *that* far, Jonathan. We’re covering our server costs with the income from our site-side ad revenues, but not one of us on staff have drawn a salary — ever.
I want to get there, but I’d like to do it in ways that don’t cause us to take money out of the authors hands. So we’re working on that.
