Heaven - Season Two: Hell
Mur Lafferty follows up with her second season of her Heaven serial, taking things on a different and more subterranean path with Heaven - Season Two: Hell
Kate and Daniel are reunited at last, but they have to return to their duties in traveling the afterlife. There are stolen souls suffering without cause in Hell, and only they can help. Kate is back in her corporeal body, but keeping memories of her time as pure soul energy, recently touched by the divine. Daniel carries the magic of an old god and the sword of a death goddess, as well a grudge against the deity who tricked him into losing nearly everything. As they search for the missing souls, Kate and Daniel have to come to terms with themselves and see if their friendship - not to mention the cosmos - can handle everything they’ve been through thus far.

I love the book, but what is going on? it has been almost a month since the last update.. MUR I NEED SOMETHING GOOD TO LISTEN TO

The unfortunate conjunction of me being sick, travel, and PB.com being down cause the delay, I apologize. New chapter coming very soon, and then on a more regular basis, as long as I don’t lose my freaking voice again.
Thanks for hanging in.

This is really not the kind of book that I would pick up if it were in print. One of the great things about Podiobooks, is that you can just try something different without commiting to read a whole book. Having said that I was hooked by season one, I really had to find out where it was going and what could happen next. Season two has kicked off pretty well too, I’m always happy to see the next episode pop up in my podcast subscriptions. I think the story works particularly well when incidents in the main track of the story cause more of the characters’ backstories to be revealed. Mur reads well and the production quality is very good.

I’m really enjoying this series so far! You have a great style and you remind me a bit of Christopher Moore. Keep up the great work! I love listening to this while I work.

I am really likeing this book. I seem to be a magnet for season books and such but I can’t wait for the next chapter. Keep up the good work.

Episode 9 was great! The story seems to be getting stronger as it goes along.

This is one of my favorite stories on podiobooks. I am also a big fan of EscapePod and PsuedoPod!

Mur does a wicked Kilroy2.0! That episode blew me away! and to hear that familiar voice doing “the story so far” was just hysterical.

I came to check out Heaven at the behest of JC Hutchins. At first it was just to see how “the Clones” would be worked into another author’s story, but I was so hooked that I listened to book 1 in practically one sitting! Unfortunately, I’ve done the same with Hell–I couldn’t help but keep listening–and now I’m caught up and have to wait…
Mur, your Clones are spot on! I laughed out loud at Daniel’s swipe at Dr. Mike!

Love the series. Totally hooked.

If it were a Scott Sigler crossover in chapter 9 instead of J.C. Hutchins, I would blame Sigler’s techtard spirit for the mixup.
What the heck, why not blame Sigler anyway?

Nice story, it did get better as it went along. A bit too much Greek mythology for me I got lost a few times in there, but luckily being a Greek Mythology guru wasn’t really necessary.

Got it all, Chapter Ten and everything. Thank you Mur for an enjoyable listen.

Warning: negative review and minor spoiler.
I was pretty unexcited about heaven, but I like Mur, so I thought I’d give Hell a try. I was also unexcited until episode 9 when the characters from 7th son appeared. For me, this was just too cheesy to handle. The book wasn’t that strong to begin with, so having the gimmick just spoiled it for me.
I still like Mur, and will give her next one a fair try.

Lizzie,
I can’t find a user account with this email address, so I’m unable to look and see when the last time you received and episode.
But you do know that the system gives you a new episode each week by default, yes? So if you signed up yesterday and didn’t tell the system to send you more than one episode, that’s all you should have until next week.
If you did change your settings, perhaps by clicking the “release all episodes” button, it sounds like iTunes is still set to it’s default behavior and is only downloading a single file. It’s a podcatcher. It’s supposed to do that. Click the little triangle to the right of the name of the book inside of iTunes. That will show you all the episode iTunes is aware of. You’ll have to click “GET” to make it pull more than one episode.
If that doesn’t fix it, send your user ID to feedback@podiobooks.com and we’ll take a peek under the hood for you.

All in all it’s a sweet little romp through afterlives. Thank you very much Mur, for the tale and the telling.

I don’t understand, I tried to find this book on itunes, but it wasn’t there. I enjoyed book 1 and I would like to be able to listen to book two as I go, but I can’t. Seems like others have had this problem, please tell me if and when it will be fixed.
Thank you

I’ll join you in that lack of understanding, David. You’ve found the book on our site. All you need to do is
a) log in to Podiobooks.com (or create an account, it’s free)
b) Get to the Heaven 2 page (the image on this post will take you there)
c) Subscribe to the book
d) Click the “Add to iTunes” link on your MySubscriptions page.
Pretty simple. iTunes is a fine tool to use as a podcatcher, but it’s plagued by incompleteness just like any other directory. The steps above will let you listen to the book using iTunes. Problem solved?

This book has not been enjoyable for me. The story got very disjointed in my opinion and I will not be continuing with this series. The good this is I didn’t pick this up in a bookstore.

I am also having trouble getting Book 2 & 3. I was able to download the ftrst segment through podiobooks, but it won’t let me get any of the rest of these books.

This book was absolutely beautiful. I had an Oprah moment and shed a tear. I highly recommend this for anyone.

I love the story, and am starting Earth later today. I do have to say, it would may have been a bit more enjoyable to have some of the narration stumbles edited, instead of a pause / repeat the line. Though at the same time, they grew on me and it felt more like when I’m reading a bedtime story to my daughter.

Is your iTunes only loading first episode? Try this:
Click Edit | Preferences then click the Podcasts Tab.
From the Check for New Episodes list, choose when you want the downloads to occur.
From the When new episodes are available list, choose Download all | click OK.
The next time your podcast list updates, you should get the rest of the episodes.
