In chapter 11, I have to point out (all in fun), that it wasn’t Aristotle that said, “with a long enough lever…” it was Archimedes.

Thanks for the great rollercoaster ride Mark. Vance reminded me a lot of Han Solo – great characters. Looking forward to seeing them developed even further in your next book.

I thought the prologue was a interesting intriguing start although the narration was not enjoyable.
Chapter 1 annoyed me with its far fetched chain of events (save the mag train by a super heroic Rambo and amazon friend???) and its somewhat juvenile sexual innuendo.
I could listen no further and deleted the rest from my computer.

It has potential but its just bad…I even listened to the whole thing (stuck on a train w/ nothing else to do)…maybe I just didn’t get it.

Fair enough. This was my first book and I will admit I am still a bit rough around the edges though I am working hard at improving. The book was conceived primarily as a fast-paced fun action story and not a “serious” book. I can say that the sequel is more complex though still fun. I hope you give it a chance when it is released.

This was great fun! From Joan the sweet spacecraft computer to the sinister Darkness and then the entrance of the Mermen. Do not venture to “Sparkling Death” unless you’re ready for the fantastic outcomes of Mark Butler’s extreme imagination.

If you are looking for a short, fun listen, this is a good one. I saw this as a James Bond-science fiction-one man’s fantasy story. Nothing is remotely realistic, the characters are a little inconsistent, but it doesn’t really take away from the story (well, maybe just a little as it is a tad far-fetched). What I really liked is that there was plenty of action, in the sack and out, but the stuff in the sack was left to your imagination; that and the author obviously knew how to write without having to resort to filling his pages with streams of vulgarities. I wouldn’t recommend it for children, but it is certainly acceptable for teenagers and up.
