Just finished this book and listened to the whole thing in two days at work. Loved the story as it had the perfect amount of mystery and suspense to keep me anxious for the next chapter.
The vilian character was really good with his claws and voices and I it was delightful on how he was conquered.

There are two things I would change - that the chapters be made longer as I would rather listen to only 25 chapters with less breaks. Also a tone change or voice pitch variance with each charater so it would be easier to identify who is talking - which saves my backing up all the time.

The duals was an awesome concept - at first I thought it was a split personality thing but was relieved to find two people. As stated before I think a sequel should be done with the exploration of how relationships would or would not work out.

I can see this as a series on the Sci-Fi TV channel. The duals fit in with everything else I have seen on that channel. Keep up the good work.

"Johnathan Fesmire's fantasy work contains some wonderful writing and an adequate narration style. Unfortunately, it is largely lost behind the quality of the audio file itself."

TERRIFIC story. I love the idea of duals. Initially, I thought it was a case of just two personalities in one body (you know, like Eve or Sybil), so it came as a very pleasant surprise when it was two personalities AND two bodies. I also enjoyed the build-up to the finale as well as the consistent character development.

The only thing I didn't like was the short segments. I listen to these at work and I get annoyed when I have to stop what I'm doing every 10 or 15 minutes to get to the next episode. My preference is for hour long episodes, but 30 minutes would be okay.

I would be interested in a sequel to see if Vayin ever finds a suitor that will accept her duality. Along those lines, the sequel would also have to cover how such multiple simultaneous relationships were handled.

Lastly, please don't be in a rush to add sex into the stories. You can say plenty without getting graphic, thus keeping your stories acceptable for all audiences. As it stands now, I wouldn't recommend this for young children, but it should be fine for teenagers and up.

The chapter 10 link is only 28 seconds long and when I look ahead the chapter 18 link is only 13 secs long. Please help me not to miss a sentence of this wonderful story and check out those chapters.

The concept of the "duel" is astounding, offings both moral and social issues as the book suggests. Brilliant, fun, and a story full of twists and turns. Thanks for the entertainment.

The RSS feed validates and the links to the episode work fine. Use the link on the Staff page to send in your user name and we'll take a look at your current subscription.

Jonathan Fesmire is giving me a breath of fresh air. Through his creative mind and willingness to share his visions I have become a willing follower and can't wait to see what it is he will come up with next!
The Children of Rhatlan is an amazing journey I would advise anyone who can read to go on. It is also a book that could encourage non readers to acquire the taste for it.

Great story. It was a challenge getting into the concept of two people in one space, but not one body. After I had that worked out, I enjoyed the adventure. I'd say the character build-up in the love scenes could use a little elaboration. I didn't really feel that the lovers were truly in love. But overall a great story.

Fun story and interesting concept on twins and magic. I kept wanting for the guy with the claws (see I just finished book and I've already forgotten his name) to either turn out to not be evil or at least find out more about him instead of being the standard cookie cutter antagonist. But overall great story.

I had the pleasure of reviewing Children of Rhatlan for Jonathan recently, and the experience was an enjoyable one. This is a memorable first novel, and the audio version goes the extra mile, adding spice to an already flavorful fantasy world.

Keep it up, Jonathan. :)

Awesome story so far! It has me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment... This is a story comparable to Nina Kimberly The Merciless in quality!
