Current issues and statuses (Updated)
Heya, all. Chris here. I thought it might be worth a post to let you know what issues we know about, and where things stand with them. Please bookmark this entry, and check before posting anything new. Thanks!
Known Issues
- Manual Release Not Working: Fixed (9/20)
- Release All Not Working: Fixed (9/20)
- Subscription dates are off: We had to restore form a backup, I’m afraid. If you sync once, it should clear this up.
- Site performance is sluggish: Working on it.
- Downloading episodes you’ve already heard: This is the result of the backup. We apologize for this. Unfortunately, it looks like we are stuck with it. Just delete them, or tell your podcatcher to only download the most recent episode.
- Cannot remove subscriptions: Fixed (9/20)
- Author Stats not functioning: Fixed (9/20)
- Cannot change password: Working on it (9/20)
- Missing episodes in your feed: Best thing to do is delete the feed from your podfcatcher and then re-add it.
If you know of more, please feel free to log them as comments here. I’ll keep updating this post.

Hi Chris,
I had *just* registered with podiobooks on the day before the site went down. I had downloaded one chapter of one book (”Heaven” by Mur Lafferty), loved it, and then went back to get more, and the site was down…
Now when I went back to the site, it did not recognize my login information. I had to re-register with the site. I’m pretty sure I had registered because I am on Mac OS X and the Keychain Manager had stored my username/password and prefilled the login form when I went back today.
So it’s possible that some registrations from the last day or so before the server went down got lost…

Hi Chris, things are getting better, but still having trouble with downloads. Looks like it releases from ” My Subscriptions” correctly but when i try and update / download in itunes nothing happens .
Chris in Indy , hang in there , I’ve been enjoying Podiobooks for while now and this is the first Glitch the Team has had.

I have tried to reset my password and e-mail address both last night and tonight, and when I press “submit,” the page goes blank for a minute, then a page with only the podiobook banner on top appears. Last night, I could only pull up that page, tonight, I got back in, but my password and e-mail information were unchanged.

Oh…and Chris from Indy…yes. I’m sorry for that. We had to use the backup from one day previous to when the site went down.. because of that, we lost most of the folks who registered on that day. You have my most sincere apologies for that.

Hi, sorry to hear about all the you’re having.
I was subscibed to Ida. When I logged on the subsciption was gone. Not a problem, except a search for “Ida” doesn’t bring it up. Is this a technical problem or am I just misunderstanding the search box thingy?
I resubscribed after finding it in a google search.

Chris,
Hey. Author stats still not working here. I think I may have also lost an episode of Jack Wakes Up (08) from the overall list.

Hi Chris,
Sorry to add to your workload but ever since you came back online half of the graphics don’t load on the pages. It only seems to be an issue with Safari. Firefox works fine.
Thanks

Re: downloading episodes you’ve heard
If it is caused by a one-time glitch (such as this restore from backup) then you can do a one-time workaround (at least in iTunes). Change you preference to ‘download latest’ instead of ‘download all’, then let it refresh the feeds. For all the affected feeds, turn the exposure triangle to show all the episodes and delete all the greyed-out duplicates from your podcast list. Finally, change your preference back to ‘download all’ and refresh again.
This has been another “solak explains it [TM]” production.
