How to Succeed in Evil
I’m all giddy. Patrick McLean, brilliance behind what is likely the finest writing and performances that make up The Seanachai, has just released his collection How to Succeed in Evil on our site. Did I mention “giddy”?
How to Succeed in Evil is the story of Edwin Windsor, evil efficiency consultant. (Kind of like Arthur Anderson for Lex Luthor.) As far as possible, he practices an honest trade, but his clients are so egomaniacal that they don’t listen to his advice.
Frustrated, Edwin decides to go into the evil business for himself. Alternately dark and funny, this is a satire on corporate culture as well as the traditional comic book villain.

That looks like a great book. I hadn’t heard of it until I saw it on your site. I’ll have to look for it at my local comic shop, or ask them to order it. Or, is this book on available as an internet book?

Patrick McLean is my idol!!!

Hell yeah! I’ve listened to some HTSIE eps on the Seanachi podcast feed, but I was already listening to too many podcasts and couldn’t keep d/ling and listening. So now I’m insanely glad that all the eps are available like this.
*geeks out*

I enjoyed this, but was completely confused by the indie feed casts in the middle of the book. Was this on purpose or did something burp? Mostly, I wonder if I’ve missed something along the line?

Most definitely a burp. Our media hosting company had a configuration issues, causing files to be mixed together. We’re working on the assumption that things are fine now, but if you find out differently, please let us know.

Amazing story - totally loved it - very well presented and I’ve sent to everyone. Can’t wait for the comic book…………

The writing is great, the narration is excellent (a wonderful voice to listen to), and it made me giggle. I look forward to more work from this author.

Top quality storytelling. I can’t think of anything really wrong with it, I was going to complain that it didn’t really end until I checked out the authors web site and saw this was really just part one of a bigger story.
Very well done and I’m looking forward to listening to more.

The story and storytelling are great! The sound effects don’t really add anything to the story, though. On a few occasions, the sound effects were louder than the narrator’s voice.

I really loved this book. My only problem with it was it was too short. The writing was crisp and snappy. The book is funny and wild, yet still believable. By believable, I mean that the internal logic hold up. Patrick, please consider me a fan. I eagerly await your next endeavor.

Overall, loved the book! Good, clean writing and fantastic pace. I would have liked to see some of the chapters combined, and there was one spot where the sound effects overshadowed the narration. Those are small things, however, and didn’t deter from the overall excellence of this story. I look forward to the continuing adventures!

I really liked this book, but should warn you; it has real LOL grade humour so you may be taken for a loon listening to it in public.

I know I am a little late to the party with this - but wow - this book was absolutely fantastic. Kudos to the author, and anyone associated with this project. Looking forward to hearing more.

Loved it! Well written, well read, should be made into a movie or a miniseries. Really head and shoulders above the usual crap that Hollywood produces! (getting my drift……>:O)….)
Just a though, but it would be fun to see Edwin come up against some real evil: a Hollywood agent!

I’ve never left comments on the books I’ve subscribed to, but this is a really clever concept & I thoroughly enjoyed the series. My only beef is that it had to end. Alright Patrick, how much do we donate to get more of Edwin Windsor’s entrepreneurial villainy? (*note - this is not an invitation to embody Windsor’s quenchless greed, I’m only good for about $30 or so)

(response to my own post & for anyone who’s interested) — more episodes at http://www.succeedinevil.com/ — I should have checked your site prior to whining — but my lucrative $30 offer stands & hopefully others will donate too — nothing says ‘give us more’ than cold hard paypal donations that, after 2.9%+$0.30, that can be transferred to a bank account &, 2-3 business days later, withdrawn as CASH.

Excellent, its podiobooks like this and Siglers that has me addicted to podiobooks. Great sound effects and narration thanks for making my work day go much more easier.

I really enjoyed How to Succeed in Evil. I thought the narration was excellent and loved the characterization of Edwin. Some of Toppers comments and reactions made me laugh out loud. Overall, two thumbs up!
