Podiobooks on PSP

When Sony released the latest version of the PSP software, they included an RSS reader for the PSP browser. Well, thanks to the help of member Mike Rice, we were able to confirm that Podiobooks and PSP work extremely well together. So, if you’ve got a PSP, know that you can now carry your favorite Podiobooks with you wherever you go!

    But you can play the mp3 files on any mp3 device anyway so why does it need a RSS reader?, i’ve been using my Sony Ericsson mobile for my podiobooks while my ipod was knackered, it was far from ideal but it got me through.

    I’m not really understanding the benefit of this, are you saying that people can now use the PSP’s web browser to use podiobooks.com on the psp itself?, so the mp3 files are directly downloaded onto the psp, rather than onto your PC then ipod or PC, PSP etc.

    Doubt anyone would bother really, only useful if your going to be away from your usual connection for an extended period of time.

    I’ve been using my PSP for my podiobooks and Dragon Page fixes for some time now. As for the RSS reader, it’s my understanding — and I could be wrong — that you have to have the PSP media manager to be able to download the RSS feed. With the MP3’s I just drag them over to the memory card and away I go. Of course, I do have to explain why I’m laughing out loud at Borders or in the library as I listen to “A Different Point of View”!

    All I’m saying is that the personalized feeds work with the PSP RSS reader. Mike was the one who confirmed it for me. Some folks like Mike use their PSP as their main listening device. I was just letting folks know it was an option.

    Not having a PSP, I’m not sure how this works exactly. All I know is that Mike got it working. I’ll ask him to post more about it on this thread.

    OK, my goal was to not have to download any mp3’s and move them over to my PSP, and as I’m poor, my 32meg memory card is stretched to the max. Setting up the RSS Reader is the answer to my needs. It streams the mp3’s right to my PSP, no wasting time downloading each one and then copying them over to a listening device.

    As for the PSP Media manager, no, I don’t have it; all I did was update my PSP to Firmware v2.60. I’ll post a walkthrough on how to setup your feeds on the PSP later tonight (or this weekend).

    Thanks for clearing that up, i’ve got some storage if you want it. PSP takes those little memory stick duo right?, well i’ve got two 64meg cards if you want them, I use a 1GB card so there worthless to me. Of course i’m in the UK so you would have to spend a few $ for my postage so let me know if your interested.

    I wasn’t even aware that PSP had internet capabilities. Hooray for technology.
