So far this book is going great. I had to smile when I heard the nod to Perry Dawsey and Scott Sigler. Thanks for the read.

I loved this trilogy. I loved it so much I scoured the web for everything J.C. Hutchins. I have found many of his podcasts and have bought his books. Now on the permanent shelf in the library, he has become one of my favorite and oft recommended authors.

I just finished listening to the trilogy. It took me a matter of days, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! As the majority of the story lasts only a couple days, after the first book, I had to immediately begin the next. At the end of the first book, it was like I'd just finished a chapter, and was left hanging. The story had to continue. Needless to say, the story was amazing. I was really invested in the characters, especially (Kilroy 2.0), and the trilogy ended in a way that left me satisfied. I'm excited to begin the prequel next. Great writing J.C. I only wish I'd come across these books sooner!

I was on the edge of my seat at the end of each episode. I am glad the books were complete by the time I found it here. Great job on a good story. I don't know for sure what a "MONDO MEGA CHECK" is but, it sounds pretty good.

Hey Michael !!
I hear you and see your point...but...it's like this
7th son is a HUGE story.
book one is prologue
book two is story
book three is climax
It also has a back story prequel-THEN a who's who of podcasting showcase featuring their take on one of the events in the novel AND user generated content about the same event...HUGE..but,,,If you want real proof of what a great story it is,,,WARNER BROS. CUT HUTCHINS A MONDO MEGA CHECK FOR AN OPTION ON THE FILM RIGHTS...no bs.....try again bro

I had to write a review just because I only see reviews that like the book. In my opinion, this book sucks. 1) The book is really really slow. 2) After you've read the book description, you've pretty much read the whole book. 3) The characters are unlikeable. I listened to this book persevering because of all these good reviews. But there isn't anything to like. The plot isn't even that great. Also, the characters are completely flat. Theres a crazy computer hacker. A middling musician. A gay soldier. All of them can be described with several words and thats all they amount too.

Really cool thriller/sci-fi story. J.C. does a great job of weaving a great story with several characters into an involving plot line. I was never distracted or pulled out of the story by his different character voices, he does a great job narrating as well. I'm excited for Book 2 in the series.

I looked at this highly praised series for a long time before diving in. I suppose I had a sort of resistance to the whole notion of sequels and franchised characters and plot retreads.
But that's not the case.
I like my sci fi as sort of an alternate world as opposed to fairies, space warriors and mythological space wizards.
And this really does the job. Perfectly.
I like the attention to detail and the fact that all the clones are so distinct and real . I had no problem differentiating between them and actually felt distress at their impending fates. No matter that they had the same DNA..they were so much the individuals.
This is a tight thriller with many surprises and I am very happy to look forward to the next and the next in the trilogy without having to wait. A great story. ..with a bigger story to be continued.
I am totally engrossed.

I was led to this book because of the crossover from michael stackpole. it was my first full audio book and it instantly hooked me. the audio quality is great and the narration is excellent. j.c. hutchins has avoided many of the common problems that seem to plague the podcasting community and make some books difficult to listen to. i would suggest having a notebook handy when listening however. having 7 john michael smiths to keep track of can be a bit tricky at first.

I have major problems with the publishing industry. Now that the fundamental unit of storytelling has become the trilogy instead of the novel, very few writers seem able to start and finish a story in a single book. Good writing, strong characters, but I want cliffhangers to be resolved in the same book, not fifteen books later.

Great Book and plot, initially when I read the description of this I was sceptical about whether it was 'my sort of thing' or not I never imagined that the story would be so good and well thought out, never predictable...

Dude.. my boss gave me a copy of this podcast a while back in a folder full of audiobooks by different authors. I had just finished a Dean Koontz novel and was looking for something else that had meat in it. I saw your name and had never heard of you. But Im not a Author snob so I downloaded it onto my mp3 player and was HOOKED INSTANTLY.

Thumbs up Mr. Hutchins, bravo.

Times & motivations change. People get busy. 1 person may wind up coming to your gym bathed in enough perfume (it may be Michael Kors "Hawaii") for you to taste their arrival before they even enter the gym. Since this is a NYC gym, no one will intrude on her right to choke the populace (until someone needs 911 due to an athsma attack, in which case they will deny all knowledge of said smelly woman). I might have expanded to the size of Jabba the Hut without 7th Son. I linked hearing the episodes of 7th Son conditional upon my going to the gym & even managed the inconvenience of arriving about an hour before the smelly woman. But this wasn't enough & I couldn't wait. I wound up foregoing my normal podcasts, even Slice of SciFi, when I was doing normal things like driving & walking the dog (it doesn't work for boring grocery shopping; you wind up going "what?" "what!" & playing back. You never get out of the *expletive deleted* food store & nicotine deprivation sets in. You amp up the NewYorker & it isn't a safe proximity. The point is that 7th Son is totally engrossing. After the 1st episode & partway through the 2nd, I wrote out all the names, occupation, and methods of abduction. Then I no longer needed it because the characters became distinct. *Spoiler alert*: serious unhappyness @ the 1st 7th son death. I really liked him! A more serious spoiler alert would be to give away the end, but it does leave many possibilities.... Well worth having this podiobook bleed out of your alloted listening time, not hearing traffic, getting irked at people who attempt to talk to you when you are in mid-episode. So when is this going to become a book?

Loved all 3 books, but this is not why I write..

If I had a choice of a father to read to me before bed every night. J.C. would be the guy. Great narration, eagerly awaiting more..

At first, the cacophony of Johns and Michaels were confusing to me. However once I worked that out -uh somewhat, I had a complete blast! JC Hutchins actually had me talking to my PDA at the characters, warning them of things lurking around the corner, danger, etc.

The production and arrangement was fantastic. What struck me the most was the commraderie among the other authors of this genre. I think it wonderful the cross promotion. And if the other authors have stories as exciting and interesting as this 7th Son series is shaping up to be, then please welcome another podio fan. Awesome job JC!

7th Son is one of the most original and compelling pieces of fiction I have ever had the pleasure of reading/hearing. It kept me guessing and it never failed to keep me interested. The characters are multilayered and more likable than many characters I have encountered in fiction. 7th Son is a great mish-mash of science fiction, action, and espionage. If you are reading this review and wondering whether or not to listen to 7th Son...well, JUST LISTEN TO IT NOW!

HI
I listened to the first book when it first came on podiobooks but when I realised it was a three parter I decided to got the lot before coming back to them.
I have just started listening again, repeated book one and now well into book two. I listen at work for most of the day so I'm tearing through them lol.
I'm really enjoying the story and see it as almost an action movie in the head. More seven 001's than one 007. I think it would transfer well to TV.
I do however have a couple of problems.
The intro and the outro.
I listen using ear buds and when set to a good listening volume for the narration I find the music painfully loud.
Also some of your guest readers for The Story So Far, leave a lot to be desired.
On the whole though I'm really enjoying myself and have recommended the books to friends.
Thank you J.C. Please keep on doing what your doing so well

Hi Keith,

I appreciate your comments! However, you have not completed all three novels, as -- at the time of your posting -- two episodes remain to be released in Book Three.

Best,
--J.C.
